Famous on the Internets: Brent Simon

Posted by Dana Vinson - Monday, August 28, 2006 12:10 PM

There is no denying that a song about Space Camp already has a strong advantage in capturing the attention of the nerdom, but when it's catchy to boot...well, then you've got Internets gold.

Meet Brent Simon, you've probably seen his awesome videos for his hits World Wired West (The Bit Torrent Song) and Space Camp on YouTube. And if you haven't, well, you'd better get with the program because Brent Simon is going to be a synth superstar.

Check out this exclusive interview with the genius himself as he talks about Ohio, the new album and of course, being famous on the internets. Plus, Brent plays Space Camp live! I dare you to walk away not tapping your foot. I dare you.

Better buy your t-shirt now so that when all your lame, unplugged friends jump on the bandwagon, you'll be able to make fun of them in that way only you can.

Seems like a good guy, with a funny sense of humour, and obviously some problems...but his singing sux. Period.

Calm down Uwe Boll, no fighting the critics needed here. The interview is solid stuff. Good work, Dana!

Snaileb,
I don't think you're getting something here, Brent is a nerd, there is a large nerd population out there, I'll bet he's never played organized sports, was in band and owned a 386! - WOW - like a lot of us mainstream nerds who watch G4TV, brookers, brent and many of 'us' do! His singing is GREAT! (sings like me and I owned a PC/XT and an AT before my 386SX), only thing is I can't play synth like this God-Like Genius!
But that's the whole point - the point you missed!

You're right, I never did care for sports. I was never in band, however. They tried to get me to play tuba, but I declined. I was in choir though, believe it or not.
