Dell PCs Recalled Due To EXPLOSIONS

Posted August 15, 2006 - By Stephen Johnson

Dell is recalling more than 4 million laptop batteries for the most awesome reason ever: They explode.

The lithium-ion batteries were made by Sony and installed in Dell laptops made between April 2004 and July 15th of this year. This is the largest product recall in the history of the electronics industry, and it might be only the beginning: Sony has supplied lithium-ion batteries to most of the major computer manufacturers.

Dell promised to notify affected consumers by mail and email with instructions on how to get their batteries replaced.

To prevent explosions, TheFeed reccomends laptop users soak their computers in a tub of icy cold water when they're not in use.
