Criminal charges against a New York hip-hop disc jockey DJ Star, that a-hole DJ who threatened to violate and pee on the child of a rival disc jockey, have been dropped.
The New York District Attorney's office said today that the racist and sexually threatening comments Star (a.k.a. Troi Torain) made against Gia Casey, the wife of a rival disc jockey DJ Envy (a.k.a. Raashaun Casey) and their daughter were not necessarily against the law... just in really bad taste (me says).
Star, 42, was fired by Clear Channel Radio's Power 105.1 station in May for what Clear Channel said were "wholly unacceptable" comments. He was arrested by detectives from the Hate Crimes Unit two days later.
At the time Benjamin Brafman, Torain's lawyer, said his client had apologized for the comments, but said they were the culmination of a long-running verbal battle that had "spiraled out of control."
Star responded to the DA’s decision by peeing the words “Thanks God” on a white canvas.
