Back in the dark ages of the late 70's/early 80's, when Superman last ruled the screen, Richard Donner, who directed Superman, quit during the production of Superman II. The movie was finished off by British director Richard Lester, who directed A Hard Day's Night. In the meantime, Donner's version of the film, featuring Marlon Brando in new scenes, was shelved.
Finally, Donner's version of Superman II is going to see the light of day with a new DVD release. This reconstructed version of the film will also be minus a great deal of the wonky humor that Lester's version was known for. The release of this Superman II 2.0 will be November 28th.
