No Hope For MySpace

Q magazine recently set up a profile for a fake band called Hope Against Hope to prove that the Rupert Murdoch-owned site is merely a record biz hype machine. The made-up indie band quickly gathered a network of internet "friends" and created a buzz, ala other MySpace runaway success stories like Arctic Monkeys and Sandi Thom. In fact, hip record honcho Alan McGee, the man who discovered Oasis and the Libertines, even offered Hope Against Hope a gig at his Death Disco club night. Ha ha ha! What a tool! That idiot got punked by a stupid magazine! That’ll teach ya to do your job well!
