Santas Under Attack '07 Live!
Posted by Matthew Bretz - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 5:08 PM

What would a Yule be without stories of everyone’s favorite jolly old Christmas mascot suffering an onslaught of verbal, physical and sexual assaults? Well, a joyous time of peace and love to all mankind, really. But since that’s not the case, TheFeed presents this very special holiday report: Santas Under Attack ’07 Live!
City of OMG!!! – In Rio de Janeiro, an actor dressed as Santa Claus almost didn’t make his scheduled appearance at a Christmas party to deliver presents to children when the helicopter he was traveling in came under fire from local drug gangs. It’s believed that the Grinch-ish Li’l Ze’s and Knockout Neds assumed that the chopper was a police vehicle and opened fire.

Real Life Jurassic Park Built
Posted by Dan Whitehill - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 2:37 PM
Dubai, known for it's extravagant real estate properties and oil money, has officially made themselves the coolest Emirate of all seven of the United Arab Emirates by deciding to build a real life Jurassic Park.
The Park, named "Restless Planet" will have Dinosaur animatronics designed by Tokyo-based (natch!) team Kokoro and will be housed in a 75 meter dome.
Their website boasts it to be "the world's ultimate theme ride back into the mists of time."
From the information provided, there seems to be plans for a monorail that would take you through the Jurassic Jungle. TheFeed just hopes it isn't as lame as the Jaws shark on the Universal Studios Tour. Which tourists still scream at every time, seriously, come on people! Who didn't see that coming two tram cars ahead?

If you ask real nicely, maybe we'll put some more videos up for you.

EA Gives Away Quality Free Games
Posted by Joe Paulding - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 12:58 PM

Recently, mega-publisher Electronic Arts announced they would be giving away a free game to anyone who needed to have their faulty Rock Band guitar replaced. Naturally, the cynical gaming community assumed that profit hungry EA would be handing out free copies of a 3-year old sports title or a cheap download.
However, EA released the list of games they will be giving away today, and it is suprisingly good. Among the titles EA will let gamers choose from are a number of 2008 sports games including skate., The Simpsons Game, Medal of Honor: Airborne, and Command and Conquer 3. So if you were one of the unlucky ones who received a broken guitar and were unable to fully rock out, consider this a nice early Christmas present. Just make sure you get your pick in by January 11th, or you miss your chance.
And be thankful that EA didn't decide to unload the remaining unsold stock of Superman Returns: The Videogame.

Freestyle 101: Thirsty Fish
Posted by Frank Meyer - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 12:00 PM
Comin’ straight outta the L.A. underground, Thirsty Fish represent real hip hop to the fullest. As part of the Project Blowed collective (which includes Freestyle Fellowship, Aceyalone, Abstract Rude, Busdriver, and more) Thirsty Fish have been schooled in the fine art of freestyling from years of battling and ciphers in legendary Leimert Park. And all that hard work has clearly paid off as members Open Mike Eagle, Psychosiz and DumbFounDead tag-team freestyle with ease, like they were born with mics in their hands.
Thirsty Fish’s latest album, Something in the Water, showcases the trio’s complex wordplay, dope beats, and unique sense of humor. The guys have skills, but they aren’t frontin’ like they’re fake thugs. It’s a return to the backpack sound of yesteryear, but with a fresh, new twist. And if you dig their sound, check out DumbFounDead’s side-project Super Barrio Bros, an all-videogame influenced mixtape laced with game samples, sounds and rhymes. Clearly these guys are true gamers, and it showed in the booth at the Engine Room when they stepped up to the mic over a Bruce Yi beat, dropping references to every game under the sun as well as G4tv, Attack of the Show, X-Play, Electric Playground and even Leo Laporte and TechTV!

Black Hole Shoots Death Ray!
Posted by Frank Meyer - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 11:52 AM
I’ve been saying it for years: one day space will attack us.
And now, finally, prophecy is coming true….sorta.
Accordinto today’s headlines (and I am not making up the wording of this, I promise): “A black hole in a ‘death star galaxy’ blast[ed] a neighboring galaxy with a deadly jet of radiation and energy.
Yes, space and ground telescopes captured images of this cosmic violence, the likes of which no human has ever seen before. The images show the galaxy shooting a stream of deadly radiation particles into the lower section of the other galaxy, which is about one-tenth its size. Both are about 8.2 billion trillion miles from Earth, orbiting around each other.

Match.com has hooked up with Facebook to provide Little Black Book, a way of hooking up with single people on Facebook who are interested in being more than friends. Now, Facebook users will be able to create profiles for themselves online for anyone who might be trolling for dates.
This merges together either the two most useful or most useless internet applications of the past several years, depending on your perspective. And, if provides a much-needed place for perverts to look online for single women who are potentially looking to hook up. So, you know, it's a public service.

Over Half of US 360 Owners Have 'Halo 3'
Posted by Brian Leahy - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 11:20 AM

Sure, Nintendo is selling a million-billion Wii's (though they don't take a loss on them), but their software attach rates aren't as high as they could be.
Sony is moving even less software. Microsoft has no problem moving software and it shows.
Apparently, about 52% of Xbox 360 owners that live in the United States own Halo 3.
Compare this to Super Mario Galaxy, which has only been out for a few weeks, and its attach rate of 18.7%. We'll give Galaxy time to catch up, though.

After developing the first four Silent Hill games in-house, Konami has tasked California developer, The Collective, with breathing new life into the series. Yamaoka, having now worked with both Japanese and American developers, has a lot to say about the differences.

EA Developing 'Tiberium' as "Tactical FPS"
Posted by Brian Leahy - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 10:48 AM

Not content to let a time-tested IP go to waste, Electronic Arts has announced that they are developing Tiberium, which they describe as a "Tactical first-person shooter set in the Command & Conquer universe due for autumn 2008 release".
Now please join hands with us and remember C&C: Renegade. Are you remembering a great game that featured great FPS gameplay based on the Command & Conquer universe? Neither are we.
Hopefully, they've learned a few lot of things from their experience with that game we will no longer speak of. The game will hit the PC, PS3, and 360.
Press release after the cut.

Trailers for Early ‘08
Posted by Ty Colfax - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 10:46 AM

Here are some new trailers of note for you to enjoy at your leisure:
The Eye – Remember that movie where Seth Green got a hand transplant or something, and it turned out to be the hand of a madman? Well, Alba was in that and now she stars as a blind gal in this retelling of the old classic transplant-from-the-wrong-person tale. It looks pretty cool except I’m sure the ghosts turn out to be her friends, just like every lame ghost movie nowadays.
Due out February 1, 2008
WALL*E – Some films rely heavily on the pedigree of those involved to get you hooked into a trailer. WALL*E is no exception and it works in a big way. Think about it, at one lunch meeting they came up with everything they would work on for 10+ years, and it’s all been pretty dern good, too.
Arriving Summer, 2008
Untraceable – This crime suspense chiller thriller pits a crime team against an internet savvy killer who devises clever ways of taking his victims lives. He, of course, has his ire set on the female protagonist by the middle of the film. Let’s just hope he doesn’t turn out to be a misunderstood friendly ghost.
Due out January 25, 2008

'Vanguard' Free For Old Users Till January 3rd
Posted by Brian Leahy - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 10:28 AM

If you play MMO's, you're probably playing World of Warcraft. Some of you might be playing Lord of the Rings: Online or maybe EVE, though we don't know why you would...
It's a safe bet, however, that you aren't playing Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. This game, from a team of dudes that had hands in creating Everquest, was a pretty big flop.
Sony Online Entertainment, who is now handling the game, is giving those of you who tried it out and cancelled your accounts a second chance.
From now until January 3rd, all Vanguard accounts that have been inactive for at least 60 days will be reactivated and free.
In the MMO game this is known as "The Death Rattle".

Conchords To Release Full-Length LP
Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 10:11 AM
Perhaps you've seen their successful HBO show, (and if you haven't, you should) and now Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, otherwise known as Flight of the Conchords, are releasing their first full-length album in April, the 22nd to be exact, on Sub Pop Records.
The New Zealanders will include some of the songs heard in Season One of the show, including the synth-pop "Inner-City Pressure," which sounds suspiciously like a Pet Shop Boys song thrown in a blender and made intentionally funny. If you haven't yet heard the Conchords, you really, really should. They're fantastic.

Japanese Earpiece Mics Up Your Head
Posted by Brian Leahy - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 10:08 AM

A delightfully named ("e-Mimi-kun") new Japanese earpiece design reduces background noise over calls by putting the microphone inside your ear.
The device will use vibrations in the air to pick up the speaker's voice through the ear canal.
That's pretty sweet and will probably reduce the amount of times someone asks you, "Is it windy?" when you're on your headset.

Dr. Madd Vibe's Christmas Special
Posted by Frank Meyer - Tuesday, December 18, 2007 10:07 AM
For most, Christmas is a time of giving, of love, and of tolerance…unless you are a member of TheFeed. For us the holiday season is a time of being lectured to, humiliated and shamed. Don’t believe us? Just watch Dr. Madd Vibe's Christmas Special and see what we mean. This racially charged yuletide treat features the great Angelo Moore of Fishbone crooning “St. Nick, You Devil You” and making little girls and boys cry. It’s painful, it’s sad, and it’s hilarious. Enjoy!
