Pro skateboarder, MTV nutso prankster and all around Jackass Bam Margera is teaming with a business partner to open a theater in his hometown of West Chester.

The yet-to-be-named theater, scheduled to open this spring, will feature musical acts, standup comedians and films.

"This is the real deal," said the star of MTV's Viva La Bam, 28. "I just want to own a piece of West Chester."

Nissan To Out-Think Humans?

Posted by Frank Meyer - Monday, December 17, 2007 2:23 PM

Nissan has your back, buddy.

They’ve got it all under control.

No, seriously.

Nissan just invented something called Intelligent Cruise Control for their GPS system, which tells the car slow down for upcoming turns, and then resume a cruising speed once the turn is completed.

So now you’re car is officially smart than you, dumbass! Hahahahahahaha!

John Travolta Booted From Dallas

Posted by Frank Meyer - Monday, December 17, 2007 1:41 PM

John Travolta has been dropped from Dallas….the movie, not the city.

Travolta has been promoted by Regency Enterprises/20th Century Fox as the project's anchor for more than two years. He was to play the leader of a wealthy and conniving Texas oil family, J.R. Ewing, a role made famous by Larry Hagman.

The movie started as film version of the 1980s even soap opera drama, but took a turn into comedy-ville when it was announced the film would be a Starsky & Hutch style parody. The cast has been said to include J-Lo and Owen Wilson too…but who the hell knows at this point, considering IMDB has none of those names listed…

Writers To Launch Own Web Outlets?

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Monday, December 17, 2007 1:39 PM

Inspired by the long-ago example of United Artists, a studio that was born when a group of actors got tired of working for The Man, some of the striking writers in Hollywood are seeking venture capital to try and open web portals that would allow them to bypass production entities altogether and release their content directly to the masses.

Leading the charge is one Mr. Aaron Mendelsohn, who you will no doubt recognize as the writer of numerous Air Bud films, so, you know, it's kinda serious. We kid, of course, but it would be a pretty interesting landscape if writers were able to release their own stuff. Might show the producers just how valuable the internet market is once and for all.

Reggie Wants More Wiis for America

Posted by Jonathan Hunt - Monday, December 17, 2007 1:30 PM

Still looking for a Wii? Still reeling from the frustration of fighting the crowds at your local game store just to find an empty spot, once occupied by Nintendo's adorable little system? Well, don't worry. You're not alone. Reggie's on your side.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime recently stated that Nintendo of America was seeking a larger portion of manufactured Wiis in order to better match consumer demand. "As we look to the future, the decisions that are being made by the executive committee of Nintendo are to put the hardware where it will essentially sell out the fastest and where it will reach the consumer the fastest," he said.

'MGS4' Will Include 'MGO' Starter Pack

Posted by Brian Leahy - Monday, December 17, 2007 1:24 PM

The most recent issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine details a Metal Gear Online experience that will be included with Metal Gear Solid 4.

The "Starter Pack" will supposedly feature 5 maps and contain the full gameplay of MGO.

MGO will support 16 players in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and "Team Sneak".

It is unclear if there will eventually be a seperate retail product or if new maps will just be released as DLC. We're banking on the latter with maps and hopefully new gametypes/weapons/etc. being sold over the PSN.

Sadly, still no release date!

PS3 2.10 Update Gets Blu-Ray 1.1, DivX

Posted by Brian Leahy - Monday, December 17, 2007 12:59 PM

All signs point to the 2.10 firmware update hitting PlayStation 3's tomorrow and it's set to include improvements to the consoles Blu-Ray and media viewing capability.

Blu-Ray support will get 1.1 profile support, which sort of keeps the PS3 at the top of the Blu-Ray player stack. Sony will also add DivX and WMV support.

DivX support, however, is sadly limited in a few ways. File size is limited to 2GB, which shouldn't prevent too many files from being played. DivX 3.11 or later is supported and XviD is left out in the dark.

Even though Sony announced DivX support before Microsoft the PS3's capability is less than the 360's.

Also, the update will allow users to change their voice, which will probably get old after about 2 minutes.

Still, good news for those with PlayStation 3's.

PC World Mag: Vista 2007's #1 Disappointment

Posted by Patrick Roche-Sowa - Monday, December 17, 2007 12:31 PM

Does anyone actually run Vista?

Prepare for an onslaught of angry Microsoft fanboys, because PC World Magazine just named Windows Vista as the number one tech disappointment of 2007. Now to be fair, PC World admits that Vista isn't an awful OS, in fact they list a few things they really like about the program. But after almost a decade in the making, we got an operating system that runs slower than it's predecessor, has quite the list of hardware requirements, and runs better on an Apple Macbook Pro than on any PC in the market. If that doesn't scream Epic Fail, then we don't know what does.

And now, let the bloodbath ensue. Play nice boys.

Talk Shows Headed Back To Work

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Monday, December 17, 2007 12:09 PM

After two months out of work as a result of their writers being out on the picket lines, both Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno are returning to work in January, but without any writers to help make them funny. The reasoning is that their protracted absence is keeping hundreds of non-writers out of work while the strike drags on, so it's a mercy to these people that they return.

As this unfolds, the news that David Letterman might be thinking of returning to work at about the same time is in the air, though there has been no official news from either CBS or Worldwide Pants, his production company, to either confirm or deny.

Amazon Buys Rowling Original For $4M

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Monday, December 17, 2007 11:24 AM

J.K. Rowling has already written a follow-up to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last in the Potter series, but you're never going to read it. That is, unless you are someone very, very high up the food chain at Amazon, who purchased one of seven copies of the book, The Tales of Beedle the Bard at auction for a whopping 1.9 million British pounds, or just over $3.9 million dollars.

The book, which is alluded to in the Potter series, is a handwritten tome of wizard cautionary tales, written and illustrated by Rowling herself. All of the proceeds from the auction will go to a charity she helped establish known as The Childrens Voice campaign, which helps provide a better life for institutionalized children. How lovely of her.

Pam Anderson Files For Divorce?

Posted by Frank Meyer - Monday, December 17, 2007 11:07 AM

Wow. Faster than you can say, "I married and divorced Kid Rock within three months,” Pam Anderson just beat her own record and filed for divorce against Rick Salomon, her husband of over two months. Yup, on Dec. 14, Anderson filed a claim for dissolution of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

UPDATE: However, days after the filing, Pam has reconsidered, and recanted her divorce papers this afternoon. A source says they got into a fight and have since made up. Wow. That's quite a fight when the wife goes a files for divorce! But we are talking two insane people here....

Anderson, 40, and Salomon, 39, a longtime pal, got hitched on Oct. 6 at the Mirage Hotel Las Vegas. It was the third marriage for both.

As we all know, Anderson was previously hitched to Tommy Lee and Kid Rock, while Salomon is best known as the lucky douchebag that taped and released his banging sessions with Paris Hilton's, made famous in One Night in Paris. Salomon was also once married to actress Shannen Doherty of Beverly Hills 90210.

Eddie Murphy Gets Superhead…Seriously

Posted by Frank Meyer - Monday, December 17, 2007 10:51 AM

Following hot on the heels of his 1985 semi-hit “Party All The Time,” once-funny actor Eddie Murphy has started a new record label called….wait for it… Murphy Entertainment!

The first signing to his label? Why, it’s none other than groupie-turned-model-turned-tell-all-author-turned-rapper Karrine “Superhead" Steffans (pictured above)!

Yes, Murphy is kicking off his label by signing a chick who only started rapping a few years ago and whose claim to fame in a homemade porn showing exactly how she earned her nickname.

'NBA Live 08' Goes 5-on-5 Online

Posted by Brian Leahy - Monday, December 17, 2007 10:46 AM

A new patch is available for EA's NBA Live 08 that allows for 5-on-5 online play with 10 people on 10 different consoles. This is a pretty big deal and even more suprising is that the patch has been released for the PlayStation 3.

The 360 version of this patch is expected "later this month".

From the press release:

In NBA LIVE 08, all 10 players on the floor can now be controlled by individual users on 10 different consoles, removing the use of artificial intelligence altogether. Player movement, decision making and game outcome can now be completely dependant on how you play as an online team, bringing you closer to a real life game of basketball than ever before. This new game mode enables any number of players from one to five on different consoles to connect and play online against another team of up to five players on five different consoles. The CPU will take control of any players not controlled by users.

'Lost' Will Air On Thursdays In Jan.

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Monday, December 17, 2007 10:26 AM

Beginning January 31st, Lost will begin it's 4th season, and the first in which it will not be airing on Wednesday nights. Though the writers' strike means that we will likely only see eight episodes from the show this season, all of them will play out on Thursday night at 9PM, otherwise known as the Grey's Anatomy slot on ABC.

What this means for Lost is that they will not have to go up against the one show that no one wants to compete with during the writers' strike, that being American Idol. Also, the producers of the show want you to know that nothing concrete is going to be resolved during the eight episodes you'll see this season. Just, you know, so that nothing's changed.

Ubisoft To Release Browser-Based MMO

Posted by Patrick Roche-Sowa - Monday, December 17, 2007 10:26 AM

Ubisoft is preparing to release a browser-based MMO sometime next year. Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms will not require any downloads or installation, so anyone with a desire to swing a battle axe can jump right into it. The game will combine region development, population maintinence, trades and bartering, as well as strategic combat.

With so much available straight through your browser with no downloads or installation to worry about, this very well may be the future of MMOs. Or it could just be another attempt to get the casual gaming market hooked on something more hardcore. Either way, we'll tell you all the gruesome details when it launches next year.

Kane And Lynch Go Mobile

Posted by Eugene Morton - Monday, December 17, 2007 10:25 AM

If you have your finger anywhere near the pulse of the gaming world you know all about the gritty action shooter, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men and even more about the debacle that arose as a result of a less than favorable review of the title by GameSpot Editor, Jeff Gerstmann. Still, you can’t keep a good team of psychopaths down.

Kane and his mentally unstable partner, Lynch have gone from next-gen to Nextel in Kane and Lynch Mobile, an all new app for mobile phones which features "38 action-packed levels across five very different scenarios," as well as all of the weapons and violence of its console counterpart.

Google Goes After Wikipedia

Posted by Brian Leahy - Monday, December 17, 2007 10:18 AM

Google is at it again. Not content to let any company anywhere do anything better than them (they got beat up a lot of high school), they are going after Wikipedia.

Google will launch a new service called "knol", which will integrate user-created articles with Google's search engine.

In addition to that, it will allow article creators to attach advertising to their work and get part of the revenue. It also appears that it will not allow random editing of articles (sorry, Colbert Nation).

knol is currently in a priviate, invite-only beta test, but should open to the public in a few months.

'Legend' Tears B.O. A New One

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Monday, December 17, 2007 10:13 AM

People really love Will Smith...or at least they are clamoring for something remotely interesting to go to the movies and see. That's the moral that can be taken from the truly staggering $76 million that I Am Legend took in over the weekend at the box office, the largest December opening in history, and Will Smith's biggest weekend ever.

Even patently awful movies made big bucks over the weekend, as Alvin and the Chipmunks, featuring My Name Is Earl's Jason Lee and Justin Long sped up as one of the chipmunk's voices, made $45 million. Which shows that people will go to the movies to see absolutely anything...except RV...no one saw that hunk of crap.
