Watch the new interview with John Madden himself, as he talks about the reaching the 20th anniversary of the football franchise.  He chronicles the growth cycle and process by which Madden has transformed from its early beginning to the NFL simulation it is today.  Madden NFL 09 hits stores August 12th.  What are your thoughts on how far the franchise has come?

'Gears of War 2' Violence Filter

If you're allergic to violence but can't resist the urge to play Epic Games's anticipated sequel, Gears of War 2, you can stop crying yourself to sleep as Microsoft confirmed a violence filter for the game. Aside from making the pretend blood go away, the filter will also bleep out explicit words, so Marcus Fenix can just tell Locusts, "Quit your tom-foolery!" Yeah, we can just picture a muscular, Lancer-wielding soldier saying that...

Gears of War 2 is set to hit the Xbox 360 exclusively this November 7. Hit the jump for a gameplay vid.


Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Cognac

Hot on the heels of super-poducer Dr. Dre’s announcement that he’s issuing his own brand of headphone comes the news that the hip hop heavyweight will be endorsing a brand of Cognac.

Yes, the first alcoholic drink from the Interscope Geffen A&M Records joint venture with beverage company Drinks Americas will be Aftermath Cognac, to be released this fall.

The production, supply and European distribution of the drink will be handled by Abecassis Cognac, a cognac producer. Following that, an 80-proof flavored and unflavored sparkling vodka will hit the market.


Spock To Help Launch 'Star Trek Online'

When you're going to launch an ambitious project like Star Trek Online, you have to do it big, so the MMO's developer, Cryptic, is summoning Spock! That's right, Star Trek actor and director Leonard Nimoy will be the special guest at the reveal of the first gameplay footage from Star Trek Online that's taking place August 10 at the annual Star Trek convention in that city.

No release date yet for this PC MMO.

More 'Guitar Hero 4' Tracks Confirmed

The next issue of Stuff Magazine unveils a bunch of new Guitar Hero World Tour tracks! Here they are:

  • Steve Miller Band - "The Joker"
  • Interpol - "Obstacle 1"
  • The Doors - "Light My Fire"
  • Michael Jackson - "Beat It"
  • Linkin Park - "In The End"
  • Smashing Pumpkins - "Bullet with Butterfly Wings"

Eclectic bunch of tunes, eh? Also: Nirvana, the Beastie Boys, and Muse will appear in the game, although which tracks haven't been disclosed yet.

Are you excited? The Activision rythym game comes out on the PS3, PS2, Wii, 360 and PC at the end of October.
