Hands On: iPhone 2.0 - Applications!

Posted by Brian Leahy - Thursday, July 10, 2008 6:00 PM

As you all know, the iPhone 3G launches tomorrow, but the 2.0 firmware leaked to the internets a bit early. We've got it and we've been playing with it for the past few hours.

The best way to describe the reactions we've had here is: the iPhone just got a lot more awesome. The App Store is easy to use and if you've purchased anything through the iTunes Store you'll have no problems.

Sure, some of the apps aren't that optimized and we're still rocking our EDGE iPhone's, but it's nice to finally be able to log onto AIM, Twitter, or play games on our iPhones.

Exchange is up and running and works well, but we'd like to be able to maintain separate calendars and contact lists. Unfortunately, syncing with Exchange contacts and calendar overwrites anything else on the iPhone.

Hit the jump for application impressions.

New 'Hell's Kitchen' Screens

Posted by Jeffrey Kanjanapangka - Thursday, July 10, 2008 5:53 PM

Got some new screens of Hell's Kitchen for the Wii, DS, Mac and PC, courtesy of Ubisoft.  Based off the popular reality-show of the same name, you can now bring home the joys of burning the roast and not only being ridiculed by your friends... but a virtual demon-chef Gordon Ramsay as well.  The game comes to a boil this September.

New 'Mechanic Master' Media

Check out some new media as Midway brings us a new brain-teasing puzzler for the Nintendo DS with Mechanic Master.  In the same spirit as Rube Goldberg and his famous, zany contraptions, players will have to utilize the stylus to create their own machines to do what any great Rube Goldberg machine does... get something simple done as unnecessarily complex as possible.  Click the image above for the gallery or click the cut for the trailer.

Village People Go Postal

Posted by Frank Meyer - Thursday, July 10, 2008 5:13 PM

Randy Jones, a.k.a. The Cowboy of '70's disco legends The Village People (right), has been cast as the first in a series of celebrities who will be appearing in the third major installment of long-running Running With Scissors series Postal, Postal III.

Of course, we all know Jones from the hits “Macho Man,” “YMCA” and “In the Navy,” but that was a loooooong time ago. Who knew he has a new CD out, is embarking on an international concert tour and is staring in the Broadway hit musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat?

“What more can I say than YMCA,” Running With Scissors honcho Vince Desi said in a statement. “Who needs John Travolta when we’ve got the original Macho Man, Randy Jones!”

In other news, Square Enix is bringing one of their Japanese MMOs to the states, more details about Bioware's unnamed MMO, and Casey's thoughts on the culinary choices of world leaders. He's quite the foodie, in case you didn't know. But we know why you're all here; not for the updates on your favorite games or news on up and coming titles, but to worship at the alter that is Casey Schreiner. You love him. You adore him. You want to have like 10,000 of his babies. Let's hope modern science makes that possible someday.

So slide into that barka lounger of yours, put your phone on vibrate, and prepare to be assaulted with awesomeness. This is...

The MMO Report.
