Posted by Stephen Johnson - Wednesday, July 02, 2008 4:02 PM

Word on the internet is that Sony's latest PlayStation 3 update (2.40) caused enough people problems that it is no longer available for download. Shocking!

We wouldn't know, as we downloaded it soon after it was available and everything things to be running smoothly here at G4.

Can anyone out there confirm or deny the availability of the update? Also, has it been working okay for y'all?

Sony: 'We'll Have Trophies For Every Game'

Posted by John Manalang - Wednesday, July 02, 2008 3:45 PM

The Sony homie David Lempel, PSN Director of Operations, spoke to Gamespy about the PS3 2.4 firmware update. Although Lempel had a little Q&A of his own in the Playstation.Blog, he added a couple of more infos about the new Trophy system:

GameSpy: Does Sony have a deadline, loose or rigid, for developers to implement trophies into existing titles?

Lempel: We're working with developers to hit a deadline. It's not something that we're trying to force on them, since it eats into their development schedules. Many of them want to do it. It's just there's some additional work on their end; someone has to create art and assets, and we don't want to interfere with what they're currently working on. Ultimately, we'll have trophies for every game, but we didn't want to force it on them immediately.
