This week, we have some bonus content (you're welcome) in the form of a longer interview with Robert Pattinson, who is playing Edward Cullen in the film.

Liberty City Gets Google Mapped
Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Thursday, May 01, 2008 3:38 PM
IGN is giving people the opportunity to Google Map their routes in Liberty City, specific to each mission you might go on. You can also use the interactive map to find restaurants, hospitals, etc. Each mission on the map is tied to a "start" button, which will allow you to see the name of the mission, and the route you must take to accomplish it.
We are nothing but impressed when it comes to the level of immersion that Grand Theft Auto IV has dished out, both within the game and without. This is just another excellent level of coolness to explore in what has become a vast undertaking. Go and plan your routes, or show a new and better way to accomplish one.

'GTA IV' Multiplayer: Team Mafiya Work
Posted by Brian Leahy - Thursday, May 01, 2008 3:37 PM
You're probably still cruising through the singleplayer of GTA IV, but here's what you're missing on the multiplayer side of things.
Let's say you only have 3 friends available for multiplayer, but you still want to have fun. We've found that a good mode to do this is "Team Mafiya Work".
Split up into teams of 2 and limit the playing area to Bohan, which is small enough to force players to meet.

Republican Leader is Former Computer Pirate
Posted by Brian Leahy - Thursday, May 01, 2008 1:51 PM
Tony Krvaric, head of San Diego’s GOP Committee, is a co-founding member of a computer piracy group that began in 1987.
The group, Fairlight, was one of the biggest gaming warez groups on the scene, but was eventually busted in 2004. Krvaric had left the group officially in 1994.
In an e-mail response to other Republican officials, Krvaric said:
"Apparently there’s a hit piece floating around on me, “exposing” my wild high school, teenage years where I was in a computer club where we swapped Commodore 64 games (similar to how kids swap mp3 music files these days). This was in the 80’s, on a computer that’s long since defunct!"
What should you take away from all of this? When your parents tell you to stop spending all that time on the computer playing games and hacking, you just say, "One day I could be the leader of the GOP Committee in San Diego. Also, I'd have a weird name."

'GTA IV' is Most Expensive Game Ever Made?
Posted by Brian Leahy - Thursday, May 01, 2008 1:21 PM

By Rockstar's estimates, Grand Theft Auto IV cost about $100 million to create and that over 1000 people worked on the game.
The now dethroned Shenmue will have to take its puny $70 million budget off to the land of dead Dreamcasts and broken dreams.
I wonder what Metal Gear Solid 4 will end up costing...

Epic Fail: Summer Blockbusters
Posted by Stephen Johnson - Thursday, May 01, 2008 12:13 PM
It's almost summertime, and that means weenie roasts, vacations and summer blockbusters! Because we love nothing more than raining on parades, please enjoy TheFeed's list of the most epically fail blockbuster movies of all time.

Cloverfield: From the moment it was first advertised, I was really looking forward to Cloverfield, and the days leading up to the movie were fueled with all kinds of speculation as to what it would be. Then, I saw it. And what it would be, and what it is, is a giant, steaming pile of crap.
You kidding me? You can climb up the side of a leaning skyscraper to pull your girlfriend off of a piece of rebar and then ask her to run while gutted but miraculously unhurt only moments later? A monster can swat you out of the sky in a helicopter, but you won’t die from the fall? Really? I mean, REALLY? Also, you didn’t drop the frackin’ camera when the annihilation of millions of New Yorkers began? You held onto it…why? Because you’re self-absorbed and think that people care about what you think about the end of the world? Oh, and the army is going to have you in their possession, and then just sneak you out the back door of an emergency facility, just as long as you don’t break curfew? Gimme a break.
Cloverfield sucked. Yes, the monster was cool, but that was it, and you have to care about characters to care whether or not they live or die, and I just wanted to watch them die. Quickly. FAIL.

Thompson: Gamers Vandalized My Home
Posted by Stephen Johnson - Thursday, May 01, 2008 11:59 AM

Game-hating attorney Jack Thompson says gamers vandalized his home.
During a call in to an NPR radio show, Thompson also said he'd gotten death threats from gamers, and that the makers of Grand Theft Auto IV are guilty of "Mentally molesting minors for money."
Thompson went on to say that he hadn't actually played GTA IV because "he has a life," and that he working with law enforcement to do something about the game, although he will not say who he's working with.
Thompson was on-air with X-Play host Adam Sessler, but the two had little interaction with each other.

No PC 'Madden '09' Coming
Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Thursday, May 01, 2008 11:44 AM
EA Sports' new top dog Peter Moore said in a recent interview that there will be no Madden 09 for the PC, due to piracy and the onrush of awesome plasma screen televisions, which is what the game is built to optimize. Kinda sad for non-console users, but Moore really wants to move sports onto the home computer sooner than later.
It's a really interesting interview besides, especially if you're into EA Sports games and/or Peter Moore. He's new, he's refreshing, and he's got a lot of concrete ideas about where he wants to take the company in the future. Read it and see for yourself.

Infogrames Buys Atari
Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Thursday, May 01, 2008 11:28 AM

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. French gaming entity Infogrames have purchased the remainder of ailing former powerhouse Atari for $11 million, just to keep the name alive. When you think about it, $11 million isn't all that much money. Heck, Kobe Bryant could have purchased Atari with a single check.
And how much cooler would that have been? We have no idea what Infogrames has in mind for the name, but Kobe would likely have resurrected Yars' Revenge or something. And that would have been awesome. Oh, well. What might have been. Que cera, cera, as our French friends at Infogrames would say.

Sony Looks Into 'GTA IV' Problems
Posted by Stephen Johnson - Thursday, May 01, 2008 10:59 AM
Sony has confirmed that there are some problems with Grand Theft Auto IV on the PlayStation 3. They say they're working with Rockstar to fix the issue, although no time frame was mentioned.
Yes, we are aware of what the message boards and a few of the industry blogs are saying about a 'freezing' issue with GTA IV on a limited number of PS3s. Although we have seen an extremely low volume of contacts to our customer service department regarding such an issue, we want to ensure that every consumer has a great experience on our console and with GTA IV. All parties involved are working to isolate the problem for those few units and identify a solution.
Here's hoping a fix is found soon!

The Game Factory, an international publisher of family-friendly and casual videogames is publishing Rubik’s World, a 3D puzzle "game experience" for the Nintendo Wii and DS systems, both inspired by the Rubik’s Cube.
The game is a 3D puzzler and promises to allow players to "test their brainpower by constructing 3D shapes and objects, navigating through mazes and even creating their own soundtracks." The DS version will allow players to connect to a community of Rubik’s World enthusiasts through the platform’s wireless connection. The Wii version accommodates up to four players and will feature an online message board.
Look for it in the fall. Look under the cut for another picture.

Burger King Enters Ringtone Biz
Posted by Frank Meyer - Thursday, May 01, 2008 10:38 AM
In an effort to reach more tech savvy consumers, Burger King is sponsoring ringtones of Warner Music Group artists on Virgin Mobile phones.
Ringtones will be priced at a buck each, which is actually much less than the $2.50 most Virgin Mobile ringtones currently sell for. Artists include Buckcherry, Danity Kane, War, Estelle, Casa De Leones, Group 1 Crew, James Otto and Plies.
Um…I’ve heard of Buckcherry, Danity Kane and War, but who the hell are those other acts? Those are the biggest names they could come up with to sell this program? Uh oh…
But I digress…
This is not the first time a fast food monolithic giant has gotten into the ringtone business. In 2005 McDonalds tried testing a service that would let customers download ring tones and burn CDs while they waited for their food. But it didn’t really work out…

Blizzard Buys Diablo3.com
Posted by Brian Leahy - Thursday, May 01, 2008 10:33 AM

There have been tons of rumors about the development of Diablo 3 over the years. More and more, however, it's looking like there could be an announcement at this year's Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Paris.
Remember, StarCraft II was announced at last year's event.
Not only does the WWI end on the anniversary of the release of Diablo 2 and Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction (June 29), now Blizzard has purchased Diablo3.com from the owner, Mockery.
The ex-owner of Diablo3.com says, however, "that this shouldn't be considered an announcement for the Diablo 3 game we've been waiting for all these years."

ASCAP: Makin’ Fees Off The Big Three
Posted by Frank Meyer - Thursday, May 01, 2008 10:28 AM
Turns out that AOL, RealNetworks and Yahoo! gotta pay license fees to music performing rights organization ASCAP for streaming music by its members, or so said a federal court judge in New York this week.
The District Court judge instigated a rate-setting proceeding where the three services can obtain a non-exclusive blanket license from ASCAP for unlimited performances of all songs in the PRO's repertoire through Dec. 31, 2009. The fee for the license is 2.5% of the service's "music-use-adjusted revenue."

Microsoft Working On 'Senior PC'
Posted by Stephen Johnson - Thursday, May 01, 2008 10:25 AM
You know what the internets need? More old people! And I don't mean naked ones, either.
Microsoft UK is offering a product to make things easier for our geriatric brothers and sisters. The "SeniorPC" will have a simplified interface and offer software that seniors will find useful. The company is considering rolling out an ad-supported machine and one that uses a "social software licensing model."
When my grandmother was alive, she seemed to enjoy growing scraggly little plants in a milk cartons she'd cut into planters and talking to telemarketers. Maybe the Senior PC will come with websites about that already programmed into The Googles. We can only hope.
We asked GramPa TheFeed for comment, but he was in the hospital having his liver cleaned. He did take time to remind us that aging is the fate of us all, so don't make fun. Get well soon, Grampa TheFeed.
