'Wii Fit' On 'Good Morning America'
Posted by Stephen Johnson - Tuesday, April 15, 2008 3:36 PM

If you ever wonder why Wii is so in demand, consider this segment on Good Morning America this morning.
Yeah, that might sell a few million more Wiis, eh?
Clip 1
In other Wii news, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter is predicting Wii sales will continue to soar into the stratosphere.
"Of particular note, we believe Wii Fit... can cause a new boom in demand for the Wii," Pachter said to Game Daily. "This device is not aimed at hardcore gamers, but is instead intended for more casual (and out-of-shape) consumers. We believe that Nintendo of America intends to support the Wii Fit launch with the biggest marketing campaign in its history, and believe that the increased buzz will drive increased demand for the already difficult to find Wii hardware."

'Prizefighter' Will Use Wii Balance Board
Posted by Ty Colfax - Tuesday, April 15, 2008 3:28 PM
The forthcoming Don King Presents: Prizefighter title for the Wii will support use of the new peripheral known as the Wii Fit Balance Board. When we first saw this, we thought, hellzyeah, finally a good way to incorporate the footwork so necessary in sports games. Upon further research, otherwise known as reading the article, herelinked below, we were disappointed.
A quote from Matthew Seymour, the Executive Producer of 2K Europe states that "we'll be utilising that not to fight, because that would be a little weird, but for the training games." In other words, we don't have time to add it to the game and it would be complicated. Never mind the fact that that's what people are going to want. You train your boxer up on the Board and then step off to fight? Seems shortsighted and slapped on.
The game is scheduled for release on the Wii in September, but available for all you rabid Don King fans on 360 this Spring.

'Bad Company' Gets Ship Date
Posted by Stephen Johnson - Tuesday, April 15, 2008 3:05 PM

Battlefield: Bad Company has a ship date of June 23rd for the PS3 and 360. The game is most famous for two things: one, destructible enviorments, and two, having announced that better guns would be available to players willing to pay more, and then retracting that decision.
Instead, gamers can either purchase the Gold Edition of Battlefield: Bad Company, that features "exclusive content with behind-the-scenes action and strategy videos," plus five unique weapons. If you buy the regular edition, you can unlock those five special weapons after the launch of the game by ranking up to the highest level in multiplayer mode.
Which may or may not be still unfair, depending on how you look at things and how much of an advantage those guns give players.
Other than that, though, the game seems rad, or so says its press release:
Action fans and gamers worldwide will get their chance to join the 'B' company on exciting, sometimes irreverent, missions that take them through deserts, cities and mountain terrain to capture the spoils of war. Players will experience the tactical, destructive power in the deep single player campaign or go online for intense multiplayer action that only the Battlefield team can deliver."
"Players can forget about using walls as cover as we've fundamentally changed the way to play shooters offline and online through the use of tactical destruction," says Karl-Magnus Troedsson, Senior Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company. "

Wii 'Rock Band' Gets Extra Tunes
Posted by Ty Colfax - Tuesday, April 15, 2008 2:46 PM
The Wii version of Rock Band will ship with extra songs already included which Is hardly a consolation for the fact that there is no way to download new songs, or unlock anything that's not already in the game. boo. However, the list is not altogether shabby. Here she is:
- "Dirty Little Secret" - The All-American Rejects
- "Don’t Look Back in Anger" - Oasis
- "Roam" - The B-52’s
- "Rockaway Beach" - The Ramones
- "Roxanne" - The Police
Do yourself a favor and if you haven't gotten Rock Band and you own a Wii, buy a 360 or PS3 and get Rock Band. The dlc makes it woth it eventually. You may have to liquidate your assets, but it's worth it. And for those of you who don't know what liquidating your assets is, I'd like to see what your guess is below.

Majesco's Angry Letter To Gamespot
Posted by Stephen Johnson - Tuesday, April 15, 2008 1:54 PM
This post is an object lesson in how not to handle criticism.
Majesco, maker of casual games, including the uber-successful Cooking Mama series, recently received a not-too bad review from Gamespot.com. The game got a six out of ten, hardly a pan, from Alex Navarro.
Rather than think: "We should make more fantastic games in the future to avoid so-so reviews," a Majesco employee reportedly, instead fired off an email that is passive-aggressive enough to featured on passiveagressivenotes.com.
"I would like to thank you for your blunt honesty in telling people the game is 'not worth their while,' and they could 'safely leave this game alone.' " The email reads partially.
We understand human nature means when someone harshes something you really worked hard on or really care about, you might reacted by thinking "I'll tell him!" But it never, ever works. Here's why: if you produce anything that you expect other people to play, read, watch or participate in, you can't get mad when people have the "wrong" reaction to it. You put it out there, inviting people to have opinions, and inevitably, some people are going to not be into what you do. Best thing to do it move on and let it go. Also, when you send dramatic emails, remember, it could be posted somewhere, and even more people will be aware of the "meh" review your games receive.
The more you know.

Freestyle 101: B-Real
Posted by Frank Meyer - Tuesday, April 15, 2008 9:00 AM
Cypress Hill frontman B-Real knows hip hop…and knows weed! Which is why he is the perfect MC for our special 420 Freestyle 101.
One of L.A.’s biggest rap groups ever, Cypress Hill practically put smoking on the hip hop map with their 1991 debut CD and hits like “Stoned Is The Way of the Walk” “Insane In The Membrane” and “Dr. Greenthumb.” Though producer DJ Muggs gets much acclaim for the group’s distinct sound, it’s B-Real’s nasally voice (armed with partner in rhyme Sen Dog’s gruff backing vocals) that is the most recognizable element of the Cypress Hill sound. All you need to hear is one second of B on the mic, and you know your jammin’ to a Cypress joint…so to speak.
So Freestyle 101 was honored when the stoned raider himself dropped by The Engine Room in Hollywood to spit an off the top rhyme over a dope Messiaz dub beat, and chat about the early days of hip hop in L.A., KDAY, The Wake Up Show and Radiotron. He even threw in references to NBA Live and SoCom for you gamers. He’s promoting his killer new mixtape Gunslinger 3 (available in stores and on brealonline.com) and hyping y’all on his upcoming solo album and the the next Cypress Hill album (in the works now).
