Man Gets Jailed Over Fake Facebook Profile

Posted by Brian Leahy - Tuesday, February 26, 2008 3:05 PM

Fouad Mourtada made a fake Facebook profile posing as the Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco and it landed him in jail for three years.

Scarier, even, are reports that Fouad was tortured while in custody over stealing the Prince's identity on Facebook. He was charged with "villainous practices" and royal identity theft. Moroccan officials deny any torture.

Someone might want to tell Prince Rachid that fake profiles on Facebook are nothing new and tons of famous people have pages.

In response to this event, at least seven more profiles of Prince Rachid have appeared on Facebook.

Japan Creating Soil Substitute for Tokyo

Posted by Brian Leahy - Tuesday, February 26, 2008 2:27 PM

Japanese company Suntory Ltd. has created a synthetic soil that plants can grow in that weighs less than natural soil. This would allow for plant life on the tops of tall buildings without weighing too much.

Japanese buildings have strict weight restrictions because of the amount earthquakes.

This would cool the temperature of the roof by almost 20 degrees. This would help reduce the dependence on air conditioning and go a little greener.

Damon To Make Fourth 'Bourne' Film

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Tuesday, February 26, 2008 2:21 PM

Matt Damon and filmmaker Paul Greengrass, who had said after The Bourne Ultimatum that they didn't see themselves making another Jason Bourne movie, have rescinded that declaration and are heading full bore into another one...after a couple years.

See, Damon and Greengrass are both committed to other projects for the foreseeable future, but they are going to make the film eventually. Or, so they say. If they didn't, we wouldn't be the least bit surprised. After all, they just told us a few months ago that they wouldn't, didn't they?

'Lego MMO' To Feature Real-World Link

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Tuesday, February 26, 2008 2:08 PM

There's any number of reasons to look forward to the Lego MMO, but one of the biggest: The game will integrate to the real world, and allow players to build something in-game, then order a real-life Lego set of your creation.

Pretty hot.

The game is about a year from release.

The newest entry in the Terminator series, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, will open on May 22nd, 2009, making it one of two big name films to open over Memorial Day weekend. The other will be the Ben Stiller sequel to A Night At The Museum, which should appeal to an entirely different audience altogether.

T4, meanwhile, will star The Dark Knight's Batman, Christian Bale, and will begin filming on May 5th of this year. Not much is known about the plot, other than that it will be the beginning of a three-picture arc that will provide us with all of the Terminator action we can handle for the next few years.

iPhone owners will find firmware 1.1.4 available on iTunes, but no list of changes or new features. The large update is most likely in preparation for the software SDK that is supposed to be released this month, though Apple is running out of time.

Jailbroken users should, as always, proceed with caution, but initial reports indicate you should be okay to upgrade.

'Transporter 3' Coming Soon

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Tuesday, February 26, 2008 12:10 PM

I've never seen either of the Transporter films, but the news that Jason Statham will star in  Transporter 3 came as good news to the rest of the folks here in TheFeed's bullpen. I'm told that I can expect a film with some high-impact action sequences and some decent car chases.

Also, there will be a package, most likely a human. And a car that does really cool, un-car-like things that no other car on Earth can replicate. No matter, you have all most likely seen these films, and will be shocked and excited that a third in the series is on the way.

Freestyle 101: Insane Poetry

Posted by Frank Meyer - Tuesday, February 26, 2008 12:00 PM

Before there was horrorcore, before Gravediggaz, before Insane Clown Posse, there was Insane Poetry. Though the world got its first taste of the blood-splattered lyrics of rapper Cyco and his posse via the 1992 album Grim Reality and single “How Ya Gonna Reason With A Psycho,” Insane Poetry actually first hit wax the previous year on Rodney O-Joe Cooley’s single “Get Ready To Roll” and an appearance at the legendary Coolin’ In Compton Festival in 1990 alongside N.W.A., Compton's Most Wanted, and Big Daddy Kane.

So IP's street cred is rock solid...yet this ain’t no irrelevant, old school outfit either. Like Kool G Rap and Kool Keith, Insane Poetry has managed to stay one step ahead of the underground rap scene and relevant as hell. Fallen From Grace is Insane Poetry’s latest album, and it’s every bit as intense as classics like Blacc Plague and Faith In Chaos. Recent death-metal-rap collaborations with Sutter Kain found on IP’s MySpace page proves Cyco is always a step ahead of the trends.

Freestyle 101 was thrilled when Cyco agreed to stop in and drop an insane freestyle over a swaggering Messiaz beat, and talk about the SoCal hip hop movement. He even rapped about Batman, The Matrix, flesh eating zombies, and gave some props to his Insane Clown Posse Juggalo homies. Nice…

EA's 'Dead Space' For Hallowe'en

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Tuesday, February 26, 2008 11:38 AM

It's just you and your really cool looking musical staff-inspired laser gun out there in a space station filled with loud creepycrawlies that want to see you dead. This is Dead Space, the new shooter from EA that's coming out in October, Hallowe'en, to be precise, of this year.

This really looks pretty cool, and definitely of the scary variety, but don't take our word for it. We've provided visual reference in the form of a trailer, shown below. Enjoy said trailer and let us know what you think.

Yahoo Launches Buzz for News

Posted by Brian Leahy - Tuesday, February 26, 2008 11:10 AM

Yahoo has just launched a new news service named Buzz, which lets users vote on stories that are interesting or popular. Sounds a lot like Digg to us, but they only accept stories from 100 news sources at the moment.

Users cannot submit stories from random blogs and what not.

Also, the top search right now is "Nazi Gold" so you know it's good. More people are searching the term "Nazi Gold" over "Barack Obama"? Smells like an internet raid.

Check it out and obviously you'll need a Yahoo account to vote.

iTunes Now #2 Music Retailer

Posted by Brian Leahy - Tuesday, February 26, 2008 10:48 AM

Apple is now #2 in the music selling game. They trail only Wal-Mart. Apple cites their $50 million customers and extensive catalogue of music as the reason.

This is a pretty big deal considering that Wal-Mart sells music in the physical in stores as well as online. Apple only sells online.

Can they make it to #1?!
