Koch Block

Posted by Frank Meyer - Thursday, January 11, 2007 4:21 PM

Two major hip hop luminaries are rallying against indie label/distributors Koch.

In his Shade 45 radio show on Sirius satellite, influential DJ Kayslay had some words for Koch.

"They're trying to pull f**king scams when it comes to paying niggas their back end money," DJ Kayslay said. 'I'm gonna use every f**king outlet I've got to bury your f**king ass."

He then got rapper Cam'ron on the horn, who announced his anti-Koch campaign.

"We're about to make a real public statement against Koch." Cam'ron said. "At the end of the day they gotta really give up what they owe to people."

Kayslay invited other artists signed under Koch to join the campaign.

Meanwhile, Koch is busy counting all the rap money they be makin’…

Haddonfield Welcomes Back Danielle Harris

Posted by Eugene Morton - Thursday, January 11, 2007 3:36 PM

Danielle Harris, Jamie from Halloween 4 and 5 is returning to Haddonfield, but not as a tortured, mute kid.

In Rob Zombie’s re-launch of Halloween she’ll be taking up the reigns of Nancy Loomis (or Nancy Kyes, she’s gone by both) before her and playing the role of Annie Brackett, the saucy babysitter from the first film.

Better still, she will be getting naked in the movie, but probably gutted too, I imagine.

Trek fans are gonna love this one: Among the many announcements made at this year's CES convention was the word that Star Trek is coming to Second Life.

According to CBS Marketwatch: "In the Second Life deal, CBS will incorporate a Star Trek environment in the virtual world, and hopefully tap into interesting story ideas, based on how people interact, for future Star Trek productions."

I'm looking forward to many virtual Kirks and Spocks virtually making out on the floor of The Enterprise.

'Code Monkeys' Coming To G4

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Thursday, January 11, 2007 2:42 PM

Early '80s videogames are schweeeeet. That's why G4 is making a show about them.

Code Monkeys is an innovative animated comedy from Adam de la Pena, the creator of Minoriteam and a writer on The Man Show and The Jimmy Kimmel Show, that tells the stories of old-school game coders Dave and Jerry, whose wacky, surreal adventures are told through Super Nintendo style videogame art.

"They live in a world where anything can happen," de la Pena said, adding that there will be visual allusions to a host of '80s videogames. That means lots of extra laughs for those who are down with gaming.

De la Pena will be writing and directing each episode, as well as providing the voice for one of the main characters.

Look for 14 episodes of Code Monkeys this Spring, and check back here for all the details and an inside look at the program.

Mac Dre’s Life After Death

Posted by Frank Meyer - Thursday, January 11, 2007 1:30 PM

A Riverbank, California school has banned all clothing that features the image of slain Bay Area rapper Mac Dre because of his alleged “glorification of drug use.”

Dre, who is considered the inventor of the Hyphy movement in hip hop, was gunned down in Kansas City, Mo., in 2004 while returning to his hotel after a concert performance.

Riverbank Unified School District board members voted unanimously on January 9 to ban clothing bearing the MC’s image or brand name at the district’s high school, Riverbank High.

Mac Dre’s clothing was added to a long list of banned names and labels that the school district prohibits from the dress code.

Lady Sovereign Vs. Jelly Donut

Posted by Frank Meyer - Thursday, January 11, 2007 1:09 PM

UK rapper Lady Sovereign apparently incurred the wrath of a Bay Area male fan who raised $10,000 to get a date with her, only to have her slam him in the press. When she returned to the San Francisco area for her next tour date there, the fan had concocted a revenge plan that involved her being battled on stage...by a large jelly donut.

Yes, you read that right. A large jelly donut.

"I gobbed right in his left eye," she said of the attack. "The biggest amount of whatever was in my throat went right in his eye."

Free Glitter In ‘Nam

Posted by Frank Meyer - Thursday, January 11, 2007 12:29 PM

‘70s glam rocker Gary Glitter may get released from the Vietnamese prison he is serving time in for sexually abusing two girls sooner than expected after fellow inmates nominated him for early release.

Glitter is serving a three-year sentence but his lawyer says officials at the Thu Duc detention center may place the 62-year-old glam rocker on a list recommending presidential amnesty.

It seems that under Vietnam law, prisoners can qualify for early release if they “exhibit good behavior, pay compensation to the victims' families and if fellow inmates recommend them.”

WHAT????

Jesus, I bet Charlie Manson is bumming out real hard that he didn’t command his kill-cult to murder a celebrity and her friends in Vietnam! He’d be walking around free as bird by now. I mean, hell, he can sing too.

Canada Using Coins to Spy on the U.S?

Posted by Eugene Morton - Thursday, January 11, 2007 12:24 PM

Remember the movie, Canadian Bacon? You know, the one where a lovable John Candy tries to prevent the Canadian invasion of America in a series of comedic misadventures? That was funny, wasn’t it? Just a good ol’, silly comedy, right?

Wrong! Wake up, cupcake! That movie wasn’t a comedy, it was a warning! The Canadians are spying on us (maybe) and we need to be on our toes! You want proof? Is the word of the U.S. Defense Department good enough for you, pumpkin?!

According to them, between October 2005 and January 2006, three U.S. contractors, all of whom had classified security clearance, were found with bugged Canadian currency, coins which were implanted with a tiny radio frequency transmitter. Intelligence and technology experts believe that the coins were planted on the contractors to track their movement, but they don’t know by whom.

RUMOR: Sony Bans Porn From Blu-Ray?

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Thursday, January 11, 2007 12:22 PM

It might be too early to announce a winner in the Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD battle, but if the following info is true, I'm ready to call it in favor of HD-DVD today.

According to the owner of an adult-movie production firm, the company will be releasing their product only on HD-DVD. Joone, the owner of Digital Playground, says no Blu-ray disc manufacturer will make his discs because they say Sony is against it and they would lose their license.

It's not as if I want my hi-def DVDs just to watch porn, but should I decide that I'd like to view a pornographic movie sometime, I'd be very distressed to find that none are available in my format of choice...and then I'd be angry. Who does any company think they are, telling me what kinds of things I can watch on my own television? If this is true, Sony is going to reap exactly what it has sown in the HD-DVD market: People just won't buy the thing.

The interview with Joone is in German, so I can't read it...but they tell me that's what it says.

UPDATE: TheFeed's ace reporter M. D'Alonzo spoke to Digitial Playground director Robby D. on the floor of the Adult Entertainment Expo, and Mr. D. confirmed that the replicating houses indeed refused to replicate Digitial Playground's DVDs on Blu-Ray, but noted that there has been no official word to Digitial Playground from Sony. Further, Robby D. doesn't think that Sony would ban porn companies from releasing Blu-Ray product. (video coming tomorrow)

It's all hearsay and rumors right now, so let's take it with a grain of salt, shall we?

For no reason, here's TheFeed's visit to a Digital Playground party:

50 Cent’s Thin Skin

Posted by Frank Meyer - Thursday, January 11, 2007 11:56 AM

Rapper 50 Cent is planning on launching a line of condoms.

Yes, during his current promo campaign for the three novels he has co-written about his life (Death Before Dishonor, Baby Brother, and The Ski Mask Way), the G-Unit leader spoke about his desire to teach the youth about safe sex….and make a buck in the process.

"The kids become immune when you constantly beat them over the head. 'Read a book, read a book.' We have to be a little more creative about it," he told the New York Post. "It's the same with safe sex. As opposed to being part of a safe-sex campaign, I'm going to make condoms and donate a part of the proceeds to HIV awareness."

Then he grabbed the hot babe reporter did her right there in front of the Post staff…but he wore a condom, so it’s all good…
