Not content to rest on its laurels after being named The Most Dangerous City in the U.S., the City of St. Louis is thinking outside the box and expanding the spectrum of perils on its streets in a new and imaginative way… by allowing blind people to drive!
Okay, not really. At least, probably not really. But that’s the delightful scenario that popped into this dreamer’s head when I saw the news that St. Louis legislators had passed a measure allowing a blind-from-birth woman to keep the handicapped parking space outside her home!!! It seems that prior to the vote, blindness was not considered a “mobility impairment,” and blind drivers had to park their whips where the rest of us do, unable to reserve handicapped spots.
