G4's Got 'Spaceballs: The Animated Series'

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Thursday, September 21, 2006 11:26 AM

Starting in Fall 2007, you'll be able to watch a brand new animated series based on Mel Brooks' classic comedy Spaceballs right here on G4.

Brooks co-wrote the Spaceballs: The Animated Series pilot with his frequent collaborator Thomas Meehan, who will oversee all writing for the first 13 episodes. Brooks will also lend his voice to President Skroob and Yogurt.

For those of you who might not remember the film Spaceballs, it's a Mel Brooks parody of large, brooding science fiction films. The cartoon promises the same brand of comedy. Look for the legendary Brooks satirical eye spoofing the biggest blockbusters of today as well as every genre of entertainment from movies and reality TV to culture and politics.

Neal Tiles, President of G4, said  “As the go-to network for men 18-34, irreverent humor is one of the benchmarks of our programming philosophy, as is animation. Mel Brooks’ classic movies Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles are just as relevant to our young male audience today as they were when they were first released.  His brand of humor will resonate well with our viewers.”

If you don't know who Mel Brooks is, you should have your citizenship from the USA revoked, and be driven to the sea in the back of a locked truck, where you will be banished to another country permanently. And don't try Canada, dude. They're funnier than we are. Likely, they'll be just as pissed at you.

Nope. You're on your own.

Oh, and , Spaceballs: The Animated Series, featuring the work and the voice of the immortally brilliant Mr. Brooks debuts in Fall 2007. Only on G4.

This must be what Mel was talking about when he mentioned a Spaceballs sequel. I was wondering what was going on with that.

Dewd the idea of a cartoon is super sweet. I love cartoons but an actual movie sequal would be great also.

Dark Helmet: What the Hell am I lookin' at? When does this happen in the movie?
Sandurz: Now. Whatever you're looking at now, is happening now.
Dark Helmet: Well, what happened to then?
Sandurz: We just passed it.
Dark Helmet: When?
Sandurz: Just now.
Dark Helmet: Well, go back to then.
Sandurz: We can't.
Dark Jelmet: Why not?
Sandurz: We already passed it.
Dark Helmet: When will then be now?
Sandurz: Soon.

There will be no "just ok" for this show, it's either going to be amazing or unwatchable...I'm hoping it's the first.

first off, hetman needs to work on his move quotes. i have seen the move spaceballs over 100 times, i know the move inside and out. like how they put the pictures name on everything. Spaceballs the t-shirt, Spaceballs the lunchbox, Spaceballs the Breckfest ceral, Spaceballs the Flamethrower, the kids love this one, and last but not least, Spaceballs the doll me.

First off I didnt know the quote completly. I knew part of it but not all of it. I had to reference it at quotegeek.com so if anyone needs to work on there quotes its them.

"Before you die there is something you should know abut us Lonestar... I am your father's bother's nephew’s cousin's former roomate"

"So whats that make us?"

"ABSOLUTLY NOTHING!"

This has been the best thing to happen to G4 in a long time.

Ugh...kill me now....

What happened G4? You have nothing to do with video games anymore...=[ You show Star Trek 24/7 and nearly nothing to do wiht video games anymore. It make me sad that this once good station is going downhill by adding these types of shows.

Posted by adubmatic - Friday, July 27, 2007 11:10 AM
F*ck! Even in the future nothing works!

But this show will since Brooks in involved. Finally something new. All we need is repeats of the Ghostbusters cartoon and everything else is cream cheese.

My boyfriend and I cannot wait to see this! We are so excited. We're huge fans of Mel Brooks and we've always wanted to see if he'd do anything more with "Spaceballs". Now all we can do is wait until the series actually comes out.....the anticipation is agonizing!

I rather watch super troopers than watch one second of spaceballs!!!!!
