Youtube user T2Darlantan recently posted a series of videos in which he claims he's playing a beta of Diablo III'.  While initially blinded by our excitement for the game, upon further investigation we noticed that the actual game he was playing bore a striking resemblance to the gameplay footage that Blizzard uploaded to their website in the wake of this year's Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational. So we did what every self-respecting news outlet would do and reached out to our inside man at Blizzard for comment.  Here's what he had to say:

"I took a quick glance at the video and it's very apparent to me that he's doing some kind of trick with the gameplay video we released, " The Blizzard Spokesperson said. "There is no 'beta' of the game yet. He doesn't truly know any 'secrets' about the game as he claims... We wouldn't choose a random guy on youtube recording from his living room as a vehicle of information for our games."

Myth: busted.  Shame on you T2Darlantan.  Shame on you indeed.

You probably know X-Play's FPS Assassin-in-Residence Tom "TSquared" Taylor from his lessons in domination on Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3.  In addition to serving up piping hot instructional buckets of kill on X-Play TSquared also competes in MLG on team Str8 Rippin. Well, it seems Tom practices what he preaches because Str8 Rippin took home the championship in MLG's San Diego tourney this weekend.  Check the recap here.

We here at X-Play extend a very heartfelt and much-deserved congratulations to Tsquared and all of Str8 Rippin.  It feels good to have a bonafide champeen walkin' 'round these hallowed halls.  Congrats again Tsquared!

Sins of a Solar Empire publisher Stardock announced today that Twilight of the Arnor--the last expansion pack for indie hit and critical darling Galactic Civilizations II--is "right around the corner" (in PR-speak that puts the release date somewhere between tomorrow and 2021 but we think it'll be sooner rather than later).  Hit the banner for the screenshots and head to the company's Web site for all things Twilighty.  Also, I've decided that the "Care Bear Stare" is the ultimate finishing move.  What do these two things have in common you ask?
