'Gears of War 2' Special On X-Play Monday!

This Monday, X-Play's assault of new games and special events continues, as we finally get our hands on Gears of War 2, and see what Marcus Fenix is up against this time. There will be video, exclusives, and interviews, as we go deep inside the game and show you what it's all about.

Here's the official preview:

"G4 TV takes X-Play on location to Epic Games in Cary, NC for a behind-the-scenes look at the blockbuster sequel and will officially premiere the opening cinematic of Gears of War 2 in full HD glory. The Gears of War 2 X-Play episode debuts on Monday, Nov 3 at 8pm EST and re-airs each night throughout the week exclusively on G4 TV."

In the meantime, check out this preview of what the show's got in it. We think you're really going to like it.

Hey everyone especially Ps3 fans Resistance 2 has been reviewed by Gameinformer and got an 8.5.Kinda sucks.At leat for you chumps.Still looks cool though.

your point of which system sells more is bs. You said would a mother buy a 200 dollar xbox or a 400 dollar ps3. What you arent realizing is that the ps3 has sold more per month on average since release than the xbox has, so your point is moot.

They just started earlier, so they have an advantage in total sales....not that sales matter

Seriously, i hav eplayed gears 1, i have played and beat Resistance 1,

both games have their pros and cons, but i guess in my own opinion i got into gears more, maybe fore different people they see it differently, idk.

in all honesty R2 and GoW2 are 2 different games.. different types and different play styles, so i guess .. you either like 3rd person or 1st person, you either like tatical combat or just simple run in and shoot, like unreal or COD style,

personally i never was into shooters that much.. the games i would only ever play that was a shooter was first person shooters, and i guess gears brought out a different way of team styled shooting.

and dont compare gears 2 to gears 1, they are not the same game, gears 2 is improved , has much more to offer, and graphically looks amazing, in my honest opinion, GoW 2 looks graphically better then R2, but i guess its only the beta for R2, so they could improve it

i only got 2 things to say,

1. if resistance RROD was just as big as gears, it would have its own special world premiere :D

2. Halo.. isn't that great, so why are you using it as the basis of an argument? I'd play gears over Halo anyday, the origonal halo was the best, because it brought out a new world, and by the time u get to a trilogy, you really need to shnazz it up in order for it to be consistant,

i say 600,000 people constantly all day long (people have lives ya know) is pretty good for an online game and of course when a game is released its going to sell a lot of copies, people play the game, if they like it , great they keep it, if they dont they sell it or trade in, why assume that all 8 million people still play halo 3? i bet not every MGS4 player is still playing it, im sure some have moved on to different games etc.

:P we shall see if R2 really is that great.. CODWW looks better then R2.. to be honest.. =\

I agree that Gears and Resistance are way different, but there really are no similarities! Really, if you think about it, it's very hard to compare R2 to Gears 2. 60 players is for team based games, but Gears is already team based. (basically because of how the combat system function, you need to rely on teamwork.) Well, there are more differences I won't go into, the list goes on, but I hope people enjoy Gears 2 (they will, a LOT!). Oh and whats up with the news on Gears 3? It was shown on X-Play before...

I just want to make this clear when halo came out in 2001, it was the game that defined shooters, halo 3 was more like halo 1, I personally like it, because halo 2 went to far away and halo 3 was more like the first one. 600,000 out of 8 million, come on man you know the facts, how many of those people play online every day? Probably the nerds and the 12 year old kids who just got into puberty. Look all I am saying is that those people play different games every day like i do, I played halo 3 yesterday, and I play Dead Space today. I am surprised you said you like one xbox game (Gears), but the fact that your bashing it doesn't make any sense. Halo defined the shooter, and Resistence 2 is probably going to be the same as Resistence 1, for all the same reasons why you said gears 2 is the same as the first.

No they will charge Konami for making multipul disks resulting in royalty fees. iD Software said this would be a problem for developers and can hurt the quality of MS games. John Carmac said it would hurt the quality of Doom 4 and Rage.

True.. I have pretty much notice that lately. Like all the games that are multiplatform usually debut better on Xbox 360 or the devs show it off more on the 360 than the Ps3 which to me is crap, which shows that they are mostly on 360 and the devs that made fallout 3 dont want to be major Sellouts to the console they like the most.. this is just my opionion...

Also, if you guys get MGS4(which I seriously doubt you will) look at the quality of it compared to the PS3 version. Konami use the power and space of the PS3 to make that game and you will see a big difference in an Xbox version. Not to mention that it would be on 6 or 7 discs. Somebody has to eat the cost of those multiple DVD discs and it won't be the consumer or Konami. It will have to be M$. Heck, they make over a Billion dollars a year just charging you guys to play games online so they can afford it.

Like I said, you know that the dev just didn't put the same effort into the PS3 version as they did the Xbox version. I know that the PS3 is harder to work with than the Xbot but this is no excuse. I think you knew that already and I fell for your trap.

I know you say that the PS3 is more powerful which it is, and you say that probaly the 360 version of MGS4 (if there is going to be) might not get a perfect 10, but if the Ps3 is more powerful how come in Fallout 3, the Ps3 version did not get the same praise as the Pc or Xbox 360 version?!?! The truth is I think Gears is a great game. I played the first one and loved it. I'm just having fun seeing you guys get all bent out of shape. You know what I'm doing yet you all fall for it every time. I'll admit, I would love to have Gears but I don't like Halo 3. I think that is the most overrated game in history.

Dutch gaming site Gamed looked to take the wind out of the sails of some of Sony's most vitriolic fan base. The site claimed that Belgian retailer Game Mania had said that the recently released 40GB PlayStation 3 is experiencing a 40 percent return rate due to faulty hardware. The report claimed the problem produced a disc-read error for Blu-ray and other media formats similar to the disc-read errors that plagued the PlayStation 2.

look redringofpee i never said the failure rate was the same as xbox i just siad iv seen failure rates and if u want the real number of ps3 failure rates look them up.and if u remember at first the 40gig ps3 had almost 40% failure rates and this was from e3.and uncharted if u ask me and alot of others was a rip off of gow.and u say the ps3 has 95 percent of the same games its funny how were getting alot of your exclusives to thats interesting.hahahaha

Every thing improved from the first one

You know, it's funny how there are reports of millions of Xbox 3FixMes breaking more than once but everybody on here always say " I've had my xbox for 2 years and I've never had a problem". Somebody is lying and its not the reports. I wouldn't put too much stock in youtube. I've seen some of those videos and they are all Xbox fanboys breaking PS3's to try to make it look like the PS3's failure rate is as bad as the Xbox's. That's a losing battle there sir. The only way a PS3 can be boring is if you don't buy any games on it. You obviously didn't buy Uncharted, MGS4, Resistance, or Warhawk to name a few. I assume you only mean exclusives because the PS3 has 95% of the games that are on the Xbox 3FixMe.

Gears 1 has also sold more then any other ps3 game but now look at it, it's going to sell even more. Halo 3 was a disappointment because halo was the beacon of hope for the original xbox. It was the only game that ever did well for the xbox, and it was the only online game that anyone would play. When games started coming out like gears of war, call of duty, and more, people started getting spoiled in those games and they liked them.They didn't know what games they liked before because we never played any other online games. Still everyone wanted halo 3 knowing it was going to be epic.(which it was) But some people who were racers (forza) didn't like it. Other people who like real life (call of duty 3) didn't like it. People with battlefield didn't like it, and in the end it helps the 360.

Little Eric tells mommy and daddy that they now have to spend more money to get a descent system for their little boy. Oh yeah, in case you didn't know, price is very important. When these naive parents go into Wal-Mart and see PS3 ($400) and Xbox ($200), which one do you think they will pick?

not really, because at least R2 has grown since the first. R2 is about 22gb while R1 was 17gb.

with gears its the same maxxed out 6.5gb disc... are you really expecting more content then the first?

Okay so the 360 is what 200 dollars (right) and the ps3 is 400 dollars (right) if i wanted to by a hardrive (120 gb, plenty for anything let alone a gaming system) it will then even out to 400 dollars. Or I could pay 250 dollars have a 20gb hardrive(again plenty enough for gaming systems) and I could pay for a lovely 360 online experience. Yes the PC has Windows live, but it misses the competiton of the 360, like halo 3, and in the near future Gears of war 2 and much much more. It's also a whole lot more expensive buying a gaming PC then a 360, or a Ps3.

You obviously forgot the problems that came along with Halo 3. The servers were down for some time. LBP is a 3rd party game and Media Molecule is responsible for the server issues, not Sony. What I love is knowing that I'm not getting ripped off by paying for something that's free every where else. You do know that that same Live service is available on the PC for free. I do. That makes you an idiot for paying for it. I also love the fact that I have the security in knowing that when I turn on my PS3 it will work. I love the fact that the Xbox 3FixMe is all tapped out and the PS3's surface has barely been scratched. I know about the slow Blu-Ray reader. That's why they do game installs which makes the game run fast and have less load times than the Xbox 3FixMe. I love the fact that I upgraded my HDD to a 250gb HDD for $60 instead of $200 for a 120gb.

I knew you were going to say something like that. What I have found with gears 2 different from gears one is the color. Gears one didn't have much color and that's why it looks good. Even bungie made a option in forge for halo 3 where you can change the color, and it makes it look amazing. But they decide a more fluent multiplayer. In gears of 2 though, there is no issue with one color. I found it cool one map having avalanches every once in a while in gears 2 and it will kill you if your in the path, but the next round it changes the whole map. The map is called avalanch. I have no doubt Resistance 2 is fun, but it's just not my cup of tee.

I know the 360 has a better graphics card, but i also know the ps3 has a slow blue ray disc reader(do you). You also haven't realized that microsoft has been upgrading and upgrading to get ready for gears of war 2 and the new xbox live experience. I'm just worried about your poor servers on the ps3 that don't get any help from sony. Honestly I feel bad for LPB buyers. If you think XbL can't handle gears, and it easily handled halo 3, you're an idiot. I just love knowing I have the far superior online. I also love thinking about Cgs, don't you redringofdeath, don't you love competive gaming on the 360 and not the ps3. I DO!

i said that before i had even played the game, and now after being in the beta, the game looks really promising. even the beta is an improvement over the first game. I can't wait to play that R2 single player!

remember.. you don't have to play with 59 other people, there are lower number player servers out there... but damn, its nice to have the option of playing with 59 other people.

You know that some of these devs are just lazy when they don't take the time to make the game right for the PS3. You know the PS3 is more powerful so it can definitely be done. If you guys get MGS4 lets see if it gets a 10 on the Xbox 3FixMe like it did on the PS3.

So by the way you rate games(IgN) you would then realize that the 360 is better. Not saying it is but fallout 3 on xbox got a 9.6, and ps3 got a 9.4 off of Ign. Due to some presentation glitches in the game.

you said it yourself, Resistance one doesn't look any better then 2. To be honest the multiplayer to me look liked a well built ps2 game. Resistance 2 got a 9.0 in graphics for the ign review, the only reason it got a 9.5 was because of replay value. I garuntee you gears of war 2 will have a lot more replay considering, gears of war 2 is still number four on xbox live and it's online didn't deliver like gears 2. Gears 2 has matchmaking, finally a ranking system(it was embarasing in gears 1) horde, a party system that's only matched by halo 3, and plenty of new gametypes.

I'm with HamLord - this has been a GREAT year for games. We've still got R2, GoW2, Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia, Valkhria Chronicles, and Darksiders(?) to look forward to before year's end.

and I played resistance 2 beta.....the graphics are not impressive and the gun play does not compare to the gun feel on Gears

Oh and by the way 60 people matches, come on........ I'll take 8-10 people matches anyday. Killing should be personal and grudes should be held from match to match when playing versus....that's what its all about.

remember how Cliffy B was bragging about having tons more creatures on the screen at once in GEARS 2? and how the environments looks pretty much the same? lol i thought it was funny to hear someone rip on that.

"Biggest game of the year?" I'm psyched as hell about this game, but let's not forget about GTA IV. It's going to be a long time before any game beats it in sales or over-all quality.

i'm just not all that excited about this, as I am other shooters...this is just too much like Gears 1

Resistance 2, COD, Killswitch 2, all are more interesting to me...
