Ubisoft programmer Vinh-Dieu Lam said that the future installments of the Tom Clancy game series, which includes Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and EndWar, will interact with one another and create one universal game environment.

"In [later] versions [of Clancy games] you'll find, say, missions generated in the next Ghost Recon affecting the world map in the next EndWar (possibly EndWar 2)," said Lam, who is also one of the programmers in the first, upcoming RTS title from the Tom Clancy universe.

New 'Tom Clancy's EndWar' Video Direct-Feed Footage (Xbox 360)
Posted By: Jeffrey Kanjanapangka - Wednesday, October 15, 2008 5:53 PM

Check out some direct-feed gameplay footage of Ubisoft Shanghai's Tom Clancy's EndWar for the PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, PC, and Nintendo DS.  Featuring the innovative voice-command ability, this real-time tactical game seeks to revolutionize how you play strategy games on consoles.

Having sat down with the demo (available now via XBLA) we were impressed with the voice commands and their ease of use.  While it takes a bit to get used to, once familiar you'll be off and flying with all facets of your army flying around the map.  The biggest obstacle it seems will be keeping your cool during combat (particularly online multiplayer) and keeping a normal cadence in the midst of the chaos. The beauty of the voice-commands is that it is supplemented with a robust and straight-forward unit control menus which can bridge the gap for small detailed or improv commands.

The demo is promising, and we would love to see more when the game ships November 4th on the PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, and Nintendo DS.

'Far Cry 2' Goes Gold, DRM Supported
Posted By: John Manalang - Wednesday, October 15, 2008 7:53 AM

Ubisoft's anticipated FPS sequel, Far Cry 2, has now turned to gold as the company assures that it will make its retail debut this October 21. The game features gorgeous visuals and tons of detail as players explore a war-torn Africa.

Also, Ubisoft has confirmed through its forums that Far Cry 2 will be using the SecuROM DRM technology for PC installs. Here are the following details (via Shack News):

  • You have 5 activations on 3 separate PCs.
  • Uninstalling the game "refunds" an activation. This process is called "revoke", so as long as you complete proper uninstall you will be able to install the game elsewhere.
  • Ubisoft is committed to the support of our games, and additional activations can be provided.
  • Ubisoft is committed to the long term support of our games: you'll always be able to play Far Cry 2.

The same DRM technology is found in EA's sim title, Spore along with Crytek's FPS title, Crysis Warhead. Far Cry 2 will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms.
