Go through your CDs and pick out the songs you want on your jukebox. Then you'll have to convert those songs into MP3 format. MP3 is a compressed digital file format for music that delivers near-CD-quality sound. MP3 songs compress down to about a megabyte per minute. If you assume that the average song lasts about four minutes, you could conceivably fit about 250 songs on a one-gigabyte hard drive.

The easiest way to create MP3s from audio CDs is to use MusicMatch. The demo version is limited to converting five songs; the full version costs $29.99, but it's well worth it. With one click, you can convert any audio track into an MP3 file. Typically, this is a two-step process. First, you have to make a WAV file of the song. Then you encode it into the MP3 format.
