The third virus to strike users of the popular file-sharing system KaZaA has been discovered. "Duload" is a worm that disguises itself as free videogames and pornography files. As "Tech Live" reports tonight, once a KaZaA user downloads and executes the falsely labeled file, Duload installs itself to the Windows system folder as systemconfig.exe and then makes significant modifications to a victim's Registry.

The virus has not widely spread, but antivirus firms have updated their virus definitions, and currently offer protection against Duload.

A spokesman for security firm Sophos says Duload is a good example of a new trend in virus writing.

"Duload provides a snapshot of many virus writers' minds. Often obsessed with sex and computer games, virus writers are much more likely to be teenage males than crack cyberterrorists bent on the annihilation of the Internet," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos. "Let's all hope that when the new school term begins, these 'script kiddies' will find their time is taken up with homework, giving them less opportunity to write computer viruses."

The worm creates a folder named Media in the Windows system folder and creates several copies of itself in the folder using file names to entice users, including:
