Sites cash in on consumers' desire to go online rather than in line. Find out more, Wednesday 5/15 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern on 'Tech Live.'

The long-awaited, megahyped "Attack of the Clones" hits theaters tomorrow. And while "Spider-Man" proved a blockbuster right out of the gate, the new "Star Wars" film is predicted to smash even Spidey's opening weekend. As "Tech Live" reports tonight, online ticket sites stand to profit.

"We're seeing great numbers for 'Star Wars.' It's looking to be our most successful movie ever at MovieTickets.com," said Stuart Halperin, executive vice president for marketing at MovieTickets.com.

The online retailer already has surpassed its advance-ticket sales expectations for "Spider-Man."

"Attack of the Clones" has been a success for Fandango as well. The company reports 84 percent of its online sales since Sunday have been for the new "Star Wars" film, as opposed to 14 percent for "Spider-Man." Just today, tickets for "Episode II" accounted for 97 percent of all sales.

The convenience factor of buying tickets online is pretty obvious: Not only are you guaranteed a seat at your preferred show time, but you also don't have to wait in line to buy. But true "Star Wars" fans say standing in line for a couple of weeks is just part of the experience.

Brandon Cadelinia has been waiting in line for a seat at the midnight showing in San Francisco since this morning.

"Just to get the experience, the hype of the 'Star Wars,'" he said. "It's a great crowd to be here."

But the ease of online purchasing just couldn't be beat, he added.

"We just kept checking 777-FILM, Moviefone, Fandango, checking what theaters were selling online. I think it was just this week -- Monday -- we just went online and purchased tickets," Cadelinia said.

And fans purchased them in droves -- positioning "Attack of the Clones" for a strong showing tomorrow.
