The TiVo personal video recorder is a very handy device. Using it to record "Six Feet Under" and late-night airings of the World Cup is fun, but don't you wish you had more control over the unit?

After searching the Internet for cool TiVo hacks, we found the TiVo Community Forum with TiVo backdoor codes. These codes give you more control of your TiVo unit by letting you access the unit in backdoor mode.

Important note: Some codes will work with certain versions of the TiVo software. Use these codes at your own risk. Using these codes may:
  • Void the warranty
  • Damage and render the TiVo unit useless if the codes are used improperly
  • Cause a total loss of your TiVo's data
  • Terminate your service contract with TiVo
