Destroy pop-up ads with one mighty click.

Ever since I grew out of my Wonder Woman Underoos, I've longed to be a superhero. What better way to start fighting crime than by killing pop-up windows, those nasty ads that open new windows with their annoying messages. There are tons of pop-up window killers out there, but I like Pow! by Analog X.

After seeing Leo's tip about getting rid of pop-under ads, a viewer named Adam Wood informed me that Pow! gets rid of pop-unders as well as pop-ups. (The difference? Pop-unders stay behind the current screen. Pop-ups stick themselves right in front of your face immediately.)

How Pow! works

Every time an offending pop-up (or under) ad gets in your way, simply click the Pow! icon in your system tray and choose Add/Delete Popup. A dialog box will appear in a window with two panes.

The first pane includes a few defaulted pop-ups and all the pop-ups you've added. The bottom pane contains a list of all the windows you currently have open on your system. Double-click the name of the pop-up window you'd like to get rid of and you'll never have to see it again.
