Tired of basic-black or silver mobile phones? Are you looking for something different? In North America, Nokia has pioneered the concept of making your mobile phone an extension of your personality. To accomplish this, Nokia introduced interchangeable faceplates, custom ring tones, and most importantly, an affordable price. Now it's time for an update and a look at Nokia's new 3390.

Designed for the GSM 1900 network, the 3390 is small and sleek. It measures in at 4.3 inches by 1.9 inches by 0.75 inches and weighs 4.2 oz. The first thing you'll notice besides the small size is the absence of an external antenna, which adds to the smooth lines of the phone. Despite the size, the keys are comfortably spaced and easy to use. Best of all it'll fit into your pocket without a problem.

Customize everything

The 3390 is targeted to the entry-level user with personalization and a tiny phone in mind. It begins with Xpress-on covers that allow owners to change the color of the phone using six different covers. The covers can be mixed and matched (front and back) to produce 49 different combinations.

Users can also select custom rings from Mosquito to Tchaikovsky and if you can't find one you like out of the 35 included, create one with a built-in composer or download them (depending on provider) online. You can even assign a ring to each person in your address book, so each contact can have a unique ring. For something completely different, Nokia also includes a screen saver. If you don't like the ones included with the phone, you can download a custom one as well.
