The clicks and clunks of menus.

Gear.com-- CLICK

There's a rule in Web design that states that all menus should be limited to at most, seven items. If the menu list goes beyond seven, split the menu up into sub menus. Well, for every rule that exists, someone's broken it and made it work. That's the case with Gear.com. It goes overboard with the menus in number and size. The top and bottom menus are the first things seen on every page. Click on any item, it stays highlighted and a supporting menu on the left appears. Everything's in text, and it's all clearly defined in terms of their context. Most importantly, they look like menu items.

Out of the Blue Design-- CLUNK

Five different icons. All changing. No labels. Think they go to five different places? I believe so, but it looks like the same page. And what are these little boxes? Am I supposed to click on them? Do they take me anywhere? Wait, this is just a portfolio. Where am I? What does it mean?

It would be as if someone blindfolded you, threw you in the trunk of a car, and drove you somewhere. Get out. Know where you are? Want to go somewhere else? Then get back in the trunk of the car. Get out. Hey, isn't this where I just was?

This isn't a website, it's a fraternity prank. Treat your guests with respect. Web visitors don't like to be hazed.
