With a couple of registry modifications, you can easily overclock your video card, and have smoother video and better frame rates.

Steps for Nvidia
  1. Right-click the desktop and select "Properties" from the menu.
  2. Select the "Settings" tab. A button labeled "Advanced" will appear.
  3. Select the icon tab with the name of your card on it. For example, mine is labeled "GeForce2GTS."
  4. A spinning Nvidia logo should appear.
  5. Click on the "Additional Properties" button.
  6. Click on the "Hardware Options" tab.
  7. You'll see a slider type menu with two different sliders.
  8. You can now control the frequency of the Nvidia's card memory and core speed independently.
