The first thing you need to do is find where the screen saver went when you downloaded it. We suggest you configure a folder for all your downloads and name it something easily identifiable like "Download." Otherwise, the files you download will go to Netscape's Program directory-- if you're using Netscape, for example.

Once you have the screen saver in your computer, the next step is getting it to appear on-screen. Most screen savers come with an installer, and all you need to do is run it.

If the screen saver consists only of an .SCR file, you have two choices:

  • Temporary install: Just right-click on the file and select Install from the context menu that pops up.
  • Permanent install: Copy the file to the Windows directory. Then go to the Start menu, click on Settings and then Control Panel. Choose Display, and in the Display Properties dialog that appears, select the Screen Saver tab and pick that file as your permanent screen saver.

If the screen saver file is zipped, unzip it using a program such as Winzip.
