7/17/03 -- Say it with pictures in a MoBlog

I get a lot of emails from wonderful people who send me links to their blogs. I like a lot of them. But let's face it, blogs "about nothing" are hardly as successful as Jerry Seinfeld would have you believe.

However, a picture's worth a thousand boring words, right? And it's more colorful. And it takes only a second or two to absorb. So why not throw out all that useless prose and go straight for pics?

Yes folks, a new phenomenon in the blogosphere has occured: the MoBlog.

MoBlogs explained

"MoBlog" is short for "mobile blog." The folks at Text America coined the term, but it pretty much just refers to the style of blogging that consists entirely of photos taken with cell phones and uploaded to a specific URL. This URL becomes the MoBlog. Captions can be entered, comments can be made, and pictures can permeate the web once again, perhaps squelching this overpopulation of wordy web logs that are clearly yesterday's news.

To get in on the MoBlog craze, all you need is the following.

  1. A cell phone that takes pics
  2. An enthusiasm for beautiful composition within small frames and bad image-resolution
