| Comin’ straight outta the OC, Lit play modern hard rock with an alternative edge. Formed in 1990 in Orange County, California by brothers A. Jay (vocals) and Jeremy (guitars) Popoff, the band also features bassist Kevin Baldes and drummer Allen Shellenberger. After a previous life as a hair metal band in the late-‘80s, the Popoffs formed Lit and began gigging around in Southern California before getting signed and issuing their debut album, 1997’s Tripping the Light Fantastic. The album quickly became a hit at college radio and the album got picked up by RCA, who then released their follow-up, A Place in the Sun, which yielded the hit singles, "My Own Worst Enemy," "Zip-lock" and "Miserable" and received awards from Billboard and ASCAP. The band hit the road with the likes of The Offspring, No Doubt, and Garbage as well as the 2000 Vans' Warped Tour. Lit’s third album, Atomic, was released in fall 2001 and the single "Last Time Again" was featured on the American Pie 2 soundtrack. After a three-year hiatus, the band’s self-titled fourth album was released earlier this year and the band has found a new home at indie label Nitrus. Visit www.litlounge.com for more info. |
