Oh, celebrities--we love ‘em, don’t we? We hang on their every word and want to know their every secret. What makes them tick? Why do they do what they do? What are their favorite video games? Yes, we’d bronze them and encase them in glass if we could…but then they wouldn’t be able to breathe and they’d die and we’d get arrested. And that’s not good for anyone, is it?
And speaking of celebrities and what fills their pretty heads, G-Phoria's red carpet was a hotbed of ‘em. Yes, stars from all walks of life congregated to hang with fans, play video games, hear the awards announced, slurp free booze and munch on tasty grub. We took this opportunity to bug them by asking, “What is your current favorite video game?” Here’s what they had to say:
What is your current favorite video game?
Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back): I’ve been playing The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth on PC. I love it. I wake up, play it, go to sleep. Seriously. It’s insane, really fun. And on the internet, me and my buddies join a custom match. But I really haven’t been playing many other games because I’ve been playing that so much on the PC.
Eddie Griffin (Actor, Comedian): Command & Conquer: Generals on my PC.
Rob Pinkston (MTV’s Punk’d): I’m addicted to World of Warcraft. I have to play it every day. There’s so much you can do in the game, and there are so many people to meet. It’s just so fun to go on with ten of my buddies—and people I’ve never even met in real life—and go in and kill the monsters and stuff. It’s so much fun?
James Remar (Blade: Trinity, The Warriors, 48 Hrs.): There’s a game I like now called Pocket Tanks, but it’s very primitive. I play it with my son.
Ty Treadway (Soap Talk): I’m extremely hardcore when it comes to my sports games, like Madden. I’ve kind of tempered it back a little bit with the Halo and stuff like that, but once you start playing it’s so addictive that you’re just back into it.
Amy Bruckner (Phil of the Future, Rebound): I love Destroy All Humans! and Halo 2. Why? Well, it’s killing, of course, and everybody loves killing, but in Destroy All Humans! it’s killing humans. Yes, I wanna kill all humankind! And you’re an alien, which is cool. It’s really colorful too. It’s awesome. I love it!
Mia St. John (IFBA Lightweight Champion): I love Knockout Kings. I’m in it with Muhammad Ali and Oscar DeLaHoya. We actually flew to Canada to do the motion-capture. It’s amazing. I didn’t realize how much went into these video games. My boxing moves and my image are exact to a T.
Karreem Abdul Jabar, Jr. (Actor): Right now, probably San Andreas. I was a big fan of Grand Theft Auto III when it came out, so I was definitely looking forward to San Andreas.
Devon Werkheiser (Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide): I am a huge gamer. My favorite games are Halo 2, the first Knights of the Old Republic, and I am looking forward to the 360 games. Halo 2 definitely lived up to the hype. They took the graphics up a notch and the game is just addicting. It’s so much fun and challenging and exciting.
Daijiro Yoshihara (Drifter): Gran Turismo 3. You can do drifting. It’s very real.
