Comic-Con 2010: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Preview

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game is a classic 2D side-scrolling fighter. Both the gameplay and the graphics are reminiscent of the kick-and-punch games kids spent weeks' worth of allowance on -- one quarter at a time -- trying to beat back in the halcyon days of the arcade.
Pugilists will have four fighters to choose from -- Scott, Ramona, Kim and Stills -- and can take on the world either solo or with up to three friends. Each character has his (or her) own special moves and can learn new ones by correctly executing specific (yet hidden) combos. When a foe is vanquished, he (or she) drops whatever cash was in his (or her) pockets, and players can pick up the money and use it to purchase upgrades for their character.
The game features a host of pop-culture references and homages, paying tribute to icons ranging from K.I.T.T. to Guitar Hero. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World comes to the PS3 and Xbox 360 in August.
