  • Tony Hawk Skateboarding Games To Be Discontinued In 2011, According To Activision

Activision confirmed they would not be publishing any skateboarding games in 2011. This is bad news for the Tony Hawk series and even worse news for the Tony Hawk Ride skateboard. This news comes just a week after it was confirmed that Tony Hawk: Shred outsold Ubisoft's Shaun White Skateboarding.

Professional skater Tony Hawk apparently let a game-cat out of a bag last night when he tweeted about something called "Tony Hawk: Shred." The tweet read: "Tony Hawk: Shred. There, I said it. I still remember the Sunday afternoon in October 1999 when I caught a subway to a Blockbuster Video to rent Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater based on a neighbor’s recommendation. • Tony Hawk: RIDE Wii Version Mii Trailer

I’m still quite skeptical of Activision’s skateboard peripheral-based Tony Hawk: RIDE. It just looks so awkward and needlessly complex. Then again, maybe it will be revolutionary beyond measure. • Robomodo Sees Its Skateboard Controller As A "Platform" Rather Than A "Peripheral"

Watch Larger Version of this Video You might think that just because Robomodo's skateboard peripheral for its upcoming skateboarding title Tony Hawk: Ride is, well, a skateboard, that its uses will be limited to only board-based sports (surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, etc.) in the future. However, that would be quite shortsighted...
