Between 2005 and 2008, 1C purchased a number of rival Russian video game developers and publishers, including Cengega and Buka Entertainment. also has video game development studios in the UK ( 1C UK Ltd) and Asia (1C Asia-Pacific Limited). Besides publishing their own games, they also republish games from Western publishers, like EA and Microsoft Games Studio for their Russian audience. In addition, 1C is unique for also owning and operating a number of brick and mortar retail stores in Russia
