Game Description:Day of Defeat is a World War II multiplayer first-person action game that pits players in Axis vs. Allies battles in Western Europe at the height of the war in 1944. Players enlist as snipers, infantrymen, machine gunners, riflemen and sergeants, and then hit the frontlines running using authentic weaponry. The game, which initially debuted as a MOD, features multiple modes of play, a total of 15 multiplayer maps of action -- including 10 new maps, all new character models, hundreds of new animations, increased textures and all new particle effects system.

  • Disable background sounds

    Load your game with the command line: hl.exe -dev -toconsole. Now push ~ if the orange text on the screen does not disappear. During gameplay, press ~ to display the text prompt and type in sv_cheats 1. Press ~ and submit the console commands to enable that particular cheat code for Half Life: Day of Defeat.

    You can pretty much place every goal and objective into two general strategies territorial control and capture/destroy the target. But certain missions will require more than one person to capture a target and/or stand in a particular area for a certain amount of time.

  • Snipers

    Unlike many popular FPS titles there is no leaning in this Valve (Activision) shooter. Therefore snipers cannot lean out of sight after taking a shot at the opposing team.

  • Taking cover

    There are many places for gamers to hide. This being said if you are playing online it is important to take cover (plan an ambush) and/or watch out for ambushes as they are fairly effective. Teamwork is very important (covering each others back) when treading along these particular environments.d

  • The British

    Unfortunately the English only have four classes available unlike the Germans and the Americans (who have seven classes each). This means if you are playing on the British side you have an overall disadvantage from the get go because the British will only have four primary weapons compared to seven weapons each for the Americans and the Germans....

  • Realistic Gameplay Features

    Some of these features include the ability to crouch and go prone, better shooting (more accurate) while standing still, both automatic and semi-automatic weapons can be affected by recoil, a stamina bar which is depleted when running and jumping, This encourages real-life gameplay rather than the running and jumping around which is more...

    Because both automatic and semi-automatic weapons can be affected by recoil you can setup larger rifles on bipods to counteract this phenomena. Bipods increase the aim of a particular gun, but at the cost of a players vulnerability setting up the gun on a bipod because a character must remain stationary and it takes a little bit of time to set up.

    If you really want to piss off your fellow combatants or fellow online gamers find out where your enemies re-spawn after they have died and camp out around the corner. This is a tactic well-used by online gamers so once you die be sure you are ready to come out shooting once you respawn.
