Company Description: LucasArts is a video game developer and publisher. It was founded in 1982 by George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars films and franchise, as a branch of Lucasfilm Limited. This branch, known colloquially as the Games Division of Lucasfilm, cooperated with Atari to produce and release games. A number of these games appeared on Atari consoles and were released under the Lucasfilm Games label. In 1990, the Games Division joined Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and Skywalker Sound as a part of the LucasArts Entertainment Company. Skywalker Sound and ILM later merged to become Lucas Digital Ltd and the Games Division became officially known as LucasArts. LucasArts is known for releasing graphic adventure games in the 80s and mid-90s, but the company has since transitioned to developing games in the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.
