Company Description: Interplay Entertainment Corporation is an American video game publishing and development company headquartered in Beverly Hills, California. It was founded in 1983 by Brian Fargo as Interplay Productions. The company's first employees were Jay Patel, Troy Worrell, and Bill Heineman, who had worked with Fargo at Boone Corporation, a software company that suspended operations in 1983. In 1996, the company created a game development subsidiary; this subsidiary became known as Black Isle Studios in 1998. The same year, Interplay Productions changed its name to Interplay Entertainment. In 2002 Interplay was purchased by Titus Interactive. The following year, Interplay laid off the entire staff of Black Isle Studios and in 2005 Titus went out of business due to financial and legal difficulties. Interplay was subsequently closed. In 2007, Interplay sold its rights to the Fallout franchise to Bethesda. Using funds from this deal, Interplay was able to resume operations.
