Company Description: Gearbox Software is an independent video game developer based in Plano, Texas. The company was founded in January 1999 by Randy Pitchford, Brian Martel, Stephen Bahl, Landon Montgomery, and Rob Heironimus, former members of defunct developer Rebel Boat Rocker. Gearbox is credited with developing expansions to Valve's Counter-Strike and both ports of and expansions to Valve's Half-Life. In 2005 the company began releasing games in the Brothers in Arms franchise, its first original IP. Gearbox also developed the Wii iteration of Sega's Samba de Amigo.
