“American Ninja Warrior” Contest Returns to G4 with All New Call for Aspiring Ninja Warriors
Viewers to Help Select Winners of Trip to Japan for Rare Opportunity to Compete in the Next “Ninja Warrior” Challenge
LOS ANGELES – January 22, 2008 — Back by popular demand, the “American Ninja Warrior” challenge has returned to G4, giving aspiring ninjas across the country the rare opportunity to prove their athletic superiority in an upcoming “Ninja Warrior” tournament. Athletes of all shapes and sizes are invited to submit videos as part of G4’s nationwide search for a competitor capable of conquering the world’s most difficult obstacle course. For the first time, two grand prize winners will be selected and flown to Japan to compete in an upcoming “Ninja Warrior” tournament. The winners’ amazing journey will be featured in a one-hour “American Ninja Warrior” special on May 18th, leading up to the premiere of all-new “Ninja Warrior” episodes, only on G4.
Each “Ninja Warrior” tournament features extraordinary amateurs competing alongside world-class athletes from around the world. Only two entrants in “Ninja Warrior” history have completed the four-stage course; the winners of G4’s new “American Ninja Warrior” challenge will join other elite athletes in a quest to become the third. “Ninja Warrior” airs weeknights at 6 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, only on G4.
Hopeful competitors over the age of 21 can upload video of themselves demonstrating their ninja skills to the “Ninja Warrior” web site at http://www.g4tv.com/anc2. All videos must be submitted by February 3rd and should demonstrate all the necessary “Ninja Warrior” attributes, including strength, speed, agility, flexibility, stamina and the passion to compete among some of the finest athletes in the world. Competitors should avoid any activities that endanger themselves or others. After all, a ninja warrior is strong, not stupid! More information regarding contest rules and details is now available at http://www.g4tv.com/anc2.
Online voting will begin on February 5th, giving “Ninja Warrior” fans a chance to view the submissions and vote in four categories: “Strength,” “Speed,” “Balance” and “Zazz” (showmanship). Based on viewer voting, six finalists will be flown to Los Angeles to appear on G4’s “Attack of the Show,” where they’ll be asked to demonstrate “Ninja Warrior”-worthy skills. Following their “Attack of the Show” performance, the two winners will be selected by G4 and flown to Japan to compete in the next “Ninja Warrior” tournament.
