Posted By: John Manalang - Thursday, August 14, 2008 8:40 AM

Codemasters and developer Triumph Studios announced the sequel to their adventure title, Overlord 2. The second installment to the original title, released in June 2007, expands on the minion take-over with "epic battles, all new Minion play mechanics...and a fresh theme."

In addition to the adventure sequel, Overlord Dark Legend, an action-adventure title,  for the Nintendo Wii and the puzzle game Overlord Minions for the DS were also announced. Both titles will be developed by Climax Studios, while Overlord 2, developed by Triumph Studios, will be available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC platforms. Look out for these titles sometime next year.

@ IBloodstormI & staychisel:

The question was actually much more rhetorical, but since you bothered...

I freakin' know that...Je-sus, what I'm really asking is why bother?

They made CoD 3 and 5 for the Wii AND PS2.

AI and graphic wise I can understand, but there are entire modes and entire parts being ripped off of these versions. The PS2 can use DVD-9 like the 360 does, so it can't be a storage issue. Minus the online capabilites, you can pretty much do everything the other versions do, so why jip them?

@CPRxChris, are you actually being serious by asking that?

partly its because nintendo wants those types of games, and then, in the case of GTA IV, Assassins Creed, and CoD4, its because the Wii's hardware isn't capable of playing these games. the Wii is as powerful hardware wise as the last gen consoles. the developers would have to severely dumb down their games to play well on the Wii, graphically.

im glad they are making an Overlord 2. i bought Overlord well after it was released when it was marked down and i was extremely pleased with it and enjoyed every second. its was a good game. i only hope there are bigger environments, mabey make it more open world.

Why does this keep happening? I don't think game developers take Nintendo seriously anymore. Because they are either doing:

A. Putting games on PS3/360/PC and then giving Nintendo leftovers by not putting it on the Wii and making something for DS. (I can name Assassin's Creed, GRID, GTA, and CoD4 right off the top of my head for great examples.)

B. Giving the Wii a "gimped" or "joke" version. (The PS2 is starting to get that type of treatment too...is it because it's for the casual gamers now?) Rock Band gave it a gimped version (It was the PS2 version with white instruments...really!), and Madden 09 is doing it with Madden 09 All Play for the Wii, instead of any of the other versions for PSP, PS3, 360, or even PS2 (and DS?) and now Overlord is doing it...
