'Champions Online' Launching Spring 2009
Posted By: John Manalang - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 1:15 PM

City of Heroes developer Cryptic Studios is breaking through the next-gen MMO doors with Champions Online, due out next spring for the Xbox 360 and PC. Published by 2K Games, players will populate Millenium City as their very own "Champions" with tons of character customization options - Think City of Heroes taking over the classic Champions tabletop, pen and paper game.

Will this be the Xbox 360's contender against the promising DC Universe Online for the PS3? Check out the rest of Take-Two Interactive's conference here and be sure to stick with us for more E3 2008 coverage.

So will I be able to make a dude straight off of my Champions character sheets?

That's what I'm worried about. Cryptic proved themselves to me with CoH. They know how to make a superhero themed MMO. However moving MMOs to consoles means having to dumb down the controls and such - which is why I'm worried.

I plan on trying out both Champions and DC Universe, but only on the PC. It'll take a lot of convincing to get to me play an MMO on a console. Same with RTS games.

I've gotta disagree with ya there, eStaff. Cryptic said it's control layout is kinda similar to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, so it's gonna be pretty smooth. Can't wait!

I am tired of console exclusives, but regardless MMOs should be played on the PC because of their space and trouble integrating console control layouts.

I don't know which concept I would prefer more, I thought about the DC universe as being a system seller for me bc of my love for Batman, but the character customization of this seems limitless and makes me think I would go for this.

OH THE CHOICES!
