'You're In The Movies' Announced
Posted By: Stephen Johnson - Monday, July 14, 2008 6:30 PM

At their press conference today, Micrsosoft showed off a previously unannounced title, a mini-game collection called You're in the Movies. It's either really weird or really cool. We really can't decide.

The game, obviously geared toward families, kids and a Wii demographic, is from Codemakers. Here's how it works:

  1. Players use their LiveVision cameras to play some mini-games.
  2. The game automatically creates a separate mini-comedy movie using elements created during the mini-game.
  3. Everyone sits back, watches the flicks of themselves being asinine and has a nice laugh.
  4. Profit!

We don't have a release date yet for this 360 game, but we'll tell you when we do it.

At least it is a different approach to bringing a new style of gaming to the 360. Are gamers so insecure that they can't enjoy something that's a new twist? It's ironic that people are surprised by this direction. They have been talking about moving into the family market for two years or more now.

The 360 may be labeld as "hard core", but those multi-platform third party E-rated kids games typically sell the most on the 360. It's just they don't have the marketing campaigns behind them like Gears, so they are not as visible.

Blah blah blah...yall sound like a bunch of btches whining about this camera game. It a game for those who wanna be seen. When I saw those asses up there looking the biggest losers I really was smh. But when I saw the B movie they had made I was lmao. If u have never seen ppl make videos of doing stupid stuff then uve never heard of youtube. The fact that u can share these movies is the winning factor. I know half of yall dumbasses will be making B movies so quit the whining girls.

Microcrap didn't make those cameras they simply made the ability to make them work on the systems.

Ensoriki, how dare you call say that the 360 is not a family console, that's just plain ignorance right there. I happen to love my 360 and i'm 32 years old with 2 kids and another on the way. Yes, i do enjoy some mature games on the 360, but i also enjoy fun ones like Texas Hold 'em, Lego Star wars, Uno. My kids are just getting into it and like the movie games such as Wall-E (although i think they are really boring, they're a blast for the kids!) I also enjoy having a way to connect media center to my living room big screen so i can share photos and videos for friends. I have family that live very far away, and we video chat with them on a weekly basis to keep in touch. We download movies almost every note and cuddle up on the couch with my wife. I think the only people that think the 360 is a "Mature" console are only the people that dont have the family to play it with have the family to play

Um... stormninja, what did sony do with their controller? they made motion controls just like the wii did. sony is just as guilty being unoriginal as microsoft. but seriously, the camera thing isnt a copy off of sony, computers had them before sony made the eyetoy, and since microsoft makes computers as well they were kind of the ones who had them first. it was only a matter of time before they brought it to the xbox.

i dont care if its kindof kiddy, im getting this game. also, its probly the most original it can possibly get from the PS eye. they actually strayed away from the minigame (sorta) aspect and went in their own direction (sorta)

This is nothing but eyetoy for the 360 and from what I saw it is nothing to write home about. I don't know what family wants this type of game.

This isn't going to work, 360 is not a family console period.
It's generally suited for people who meet the Mature rating's given for it's best titles.
Almost all titles on it that aren't mature are lame, except for some exceptions, from tried and true developers.
