My guess was halo3 or Assassin's Creed, before I watched the video. But when I heard Call of Duty 4 I gotta admit I was a lil shocked. Don't get me wrong It looks like an awesome game, but I think they were just playing it safe since it's multi-plat.

the original cod was one of the worst games i played, evar... why...?, most linear fps i've ever seen, retarded ai (some levels unable to complete because your squad-mates block doorways...etc, have to start over), map design follows the linear trend as well (wanna duck for cover in an ally...? sorry, no can do because of an invisible wall), and too many other things to list... (though, multiplayer was kinda fun). cod screamed bargain bin when it first came out... they must have really changed a lot since the first one...

haha thats great.

i was at blockbuster talking to the game nerds that work there and i said this same thing yesterday and they were all dismissive about COD4.

The same arguments came out of their mouths "HALO DUDE , THAT SHITS GONNA OWN ! "

I protested in saying that yeah Halo would be awesome but neck to nuts COD4 was gonna be the hottness when it drops.

Now if Halo comes out with the level of customization that COD4 is gonna have then it will be a contender, but i can pretty well image that its gonna just be a souped up version of Halo2.

Granted i havent played COD4 but look at the in game video and it looks incredible to say the least.

Watching Adam and Kevin geek like crazy when they were showing the game play at E3 got me even more hyped about this game.

HELL YEAH COD4 CANT WAIT FOR IT !!!

I think itll change your mind and there are still plenty of people playing online so your sure to find a game.

If this doesnt turn you onto the potential of what Infiniti Ward can do along with the COD4 trailers then its your misfortune for judging this potentially amazing game on the sins of the past.

I think the only reason that H3 and KZ2 aren't there is because they weren't playable. We saw demos, but no reporter got a hands on deal (sounds kinky?). That fact sort-of disqualifies them.

CoD4 WAS playable and therefore deserves its place.

I'm just a bit surprised that the best 360 title of E3 wasn't an exclusive. That doesn't really make any sense, unless the 360 version kicks major ass.

Mass Effect... and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars right after i sell my kidney, take 3 jobs, and sell my car. i think that'll cover all the limited editions... oh, and a PSP lite, star wars edition w/ renegade squadron, and Final Fantasy Tactics: war of the Lion, and the new PS3, with Killzone 2, UT3 again, Ratchet and Clank: ToD, and whatever else i find. maybe i'll have to sell more organs... maybe blood... or a soul...

Theres no fair choice because its like trying to figue out which of a bunch of perfect scores is better, theyre all just too damn good. (however my love of Halo2 points me twoards Halo 3)

Killzone 2 also did look good but it still didn't quite deliver on what they promised 2 years ago, plus it was more like MS's conferance line up "here are games you've seen before, look and admire them".

really, all g4 showed was stuff from nintendo,sony,and microsoft. i mean where was the coverage at the show of:
capcom
bandai namco
atari
ubisoft
atlus
ect.

i mean if they were the official broadcast they probablly wont be next year
cause when i saw dynasty warriors GUNDAM i flipped my shit! and g4 didnt even cover it! really they said since it was smaller they would cover more but really i saw less

Ya I am kind of disapointed in what was shown. Especially the fact that there weren't any surprises by any company. And there wasn't a game that got everyones attention. All good games, some could be great, but nothing new. I think they could have shown some games that are in development.

Infinity Ward better bring the series back to it's glory. The original Call of Duty was AMAZING. Multiplayer and Single player were perfect. Call of duty 2... meh. Any console only one has been crap so far. PC rules first person shooters as far as controls are conserned

Anyone else notice that if you watched the 3 Pre-E3 press conferences from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft you saw 90% of the E3 coverage from the next 3 days? It was all the same trailers with a whole lot of fluff.

E3 was a huge disappointment for me this year. It had a little to do with the coverage and a lot to do with the fact that a bunch of the big name PC developers didn't really show up. Yah, they may have had small announcements, but nothing overly excited... we saw more of the same gameplay for Crysis, heard three new units from SC2 (was hoping for some terran or zerg info... nothing there, though) described extremely vaguely, nothing new from Spore, nothing really from NCSoft, nothing from SoE (not that I'm a huge fan of SoE, I was just surprised that I didn't even hear its name). It was almost all console, and as a PC guy it was very disappointing.

Also, explain to me how Halo 3 is going to win best of show with a cinematic trailer and a live-action trailer... Halo 1 and 2 are good games. They're tight games, but very generic. Nothing about them was ever that fresh. It was just the same old thing done very well. Best in show, in my opinion, should not only be a PLAYABLE demo of a game, but a playable demo of a game that offers something new. So, to all the Halo fanboys, don't get pissy at me, I'm not saying Halo is a bad series, the games are fun, yes. I'm just saying that they shouldn't win best of show... especially not when it's not playable.

I was a little schocked at first by the choice, but i have to say i am glad. It looks to be an amazing fps, not only by graphics but by gameplay also. What i'm most happy about is that a multi-platform was chosen as best....

yet the fact that there are still platform exclusive game arguments on this comment board confuses the hell outa me...

The critera was that it had to be in PLAYABLE form, so anything that just showed as a TRAILER didn't qualify. Being a rpg fan I wish they had covered those more, espescially Two Worlds- it looks good. My vote would have gone to Bioshock.

I wasn't that impressed by the Halo3 showing. I thought Call of Duty 4 and Killzone 2 both had better graphics and more gameplay footage.

I'm gonna go with Call of Duty 4.

This past week has been great!
It's almost like "G4 Television for Gamers" is back. Too bad it won't last...

In a way I agree with them.. I would have chose Super Mario Galaxy, however. But CoD4 does look pretty awesome, definitly a whole lot better than what we've seen from Halo 3 so far. Assassin's Creed also looks awesome.

Truthfully.....everything sucked....i was hoping to see more of next year's games, this was practically the same thing from last years E3...all conferences was boring..I'll admit the only good thing was when Sony finally showed games, a department they were lacking in. besides that everything was a copy/paste of last year. No major announcement from anyone, really dissapointing....especially Sony with the so called new version of the PSP, what a joke....there was nothing different....MGS4 was amazing though, however no gameplay showing. As for best of show, nothing impressed me, but I would have to say Assassins Creed looked nice. Heavanly Sword looked good, but it's gameplay seemed more like Ninja Gaiden and God of War, so i wasn't that impressed. Killzone 2 looked nice, but somehow it hasn't won me over, the first one sucked. Overall, very dissapointing E3, nothing new.

G4=Fail again.

There were several other games that could easily have been believable to be Best of E3. I always buy CoD, play through completely, but never return to play it again. Online play has never been up to snuff. And now, it just looks like a GRAW, RB6 kinda clone.
I applaud the switch from WWII to "modern" warfare, but it's about 2 years too late, for me anyway.

This years line-up is mostly shooters. The gamers aspect of a "good game" has become quite stereotypical and eluted in true gaming aspects. Sure, there maybe a great lineup, but what of the RPG fans, or puzzle gamers. This is where nintendo has stepped in, and actually took a look at the market, and realized that most games out their, are shooters. Not saying that Nintendo's lineup is good, but I'm saying that Nintendo is taking the right direction. The games that were not shown on G4 is one of the aspects of unfair voting. Like Atlus and NIS games. These games take more of a strategic RPG style. (moreso NIS) I truly believe that E3 has become the mainstream for "what game has the most crisp graphics" and not "what game has the most gameplay". In all true reality, CoD will do well for customization and (slow) gameplay, not for the graphics.

i have to agree, there wasnt much coverage besides the big three, i would have like to have seen something from ubisoft, capcom, etc.,
However i have to admit, take sony price f**up out the picture and they did win the e3. For best game, dont know kinda hard to tell. But the Left For Dead game that looks sick i say sick.

Call of Duty 4 deserved to win hands down

Several games looked amazing, and like excaleranth i may have to sell a few organs to get em all

like many others, i think Halo3 is overrated...the others were'nt great games, and this one seems like simply a rewashed version of the second

i was a little surprised at the pick for nintendo, as i thought SSBB was being looked forward to much more than galaxy. I think that and SCII woulda gotten much more votes or at least considered in their respective categories if they had had playable demos, especially considering what large fan bases they already have, and how long it has been since their last installments

but it is a matter of opinion. and to all you who look down on how the G4team covered E3 this year, you're probably just jealous because fir the first time the doors were locked to you. They cant do everything, but at least you aren't being neglected as you would be if they were'nt there

I have to say I was impressed more than I thought I would be for Call of Duty 4. I think this game is going to kick major @$$.

But I think the shooter genre is starting to flood the consoles so I think the game to win should have been either Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, or to avoid the fanboy response of my console had the best game of E3, Assasins Creed.

There is and will be no other winner to this competition... HALO 3 all the way. I agree with the insignificant factoid that the PS3 has a more... lets say... powerful engine but that alone wont help it win this war. The Xbox had better graphics than the PS2 and it still didn't win. The PS2 on the other hand a larger installed base and eventually came out victorious in last-gen's war. If history repeats itself and it will... the XBOX 360 will clear the fog as the winner.

Of course we think Halo is better than any other game. That's OUR opinion. If you don't think so, then that's fine and dandy.

But it's ALL in the eye of the beholder and in our eyes, Halo 3 is the best.

That's why I take these G4 E3 awards with a HUGE grain of salt.

It wins best game because it showed the most intense footage in E3, Halo's footage was not at all intense, it's just what everybody expected. Not that Halo is a bad game,just CoD4's showing was top notch. CoD4 will definately be a must buy.

In fact, more people seem to be more excited for Assassin's Creed. Wow can you imagine if that game stayed exclusive to Sony.
