The 2011 Indie Game Challengers:

Along with the high-profile annual Interactive Achievement Awards, DICE also hosts the Indie Game Challenge, a scrappier contest for smaller, more esoteric indie titles. Think of the IGC as the Spirit Award to the the IAA's Oscar. Indie Game Challenge awards are given in two main categories -- Pro and Non-Pro.
The winners of the Indie Game Challenge are...
Pro Award:
LIMBO, Play Dead Games, Xbox Live Arcade
Non-Pro Award:
Inertia, Team Hermes, Windows
The teams behind Limbo and Inertia have each received the princely sum of $100,000 in recognition of their game-developing excellence. Congratulations to Play Dead and Team Hermes!

The Indie Game Challenge gives aspiring game developers the chance to showcase their skills, pitch their games to top publishers and win some serious cash. They're also competing for your vote in the Gamer's Choice Award. Vote and enter for your chance to win a trip to L.A., $1,000 spending money, and more. Check out Adam weeknights at 6:30 PM EST on X-Play. Look for the overall Indie Game Challenge winners to be announced February 11th at D.I.C.E.
The IGC finalists, which includes six non-professional and six professional teams, are also eligible for more than $350,000 in prize monies and scholarships. Prizes up for grabs include:
- * $100,000 awarded to each of the professional and non-professional category winners
- * A $50,000 academic scholarship to The Guildhall at SMU
- * A DesignMetrics title assessment to each of the winners, a $30,000 value from Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR)
- * $10,000 to the IGC Gamer's Choice winner
- * $7,500 in technical prizes
