Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy has a lot more than light saber wielding Jedi, scruffy space smugglers and incapable Imperials. Cute as it all looks, this game has a dark underbelly.  Welcome to the bounty hunter missions. Everyone’s favorite space slug Jabba the Hutt wants you to capture the ten most important members of the rebel alliance.

Your first task is to unlock Jabba’s bar within the Mos Eisley cantina. To do this, purchase six bounty hunters from the character selection menu. The bounty hunters include famous cantina local Greedo, the droids 4-LOM and IG-88, Bossk, Dengar and of course, Boba Fett.  You’ll need all six hunters to unlock the missions but you’ll probably end up using IG-88 and Boba Fett the most.  IG-88 can unlock both the C3-P0 and R2D2 doors and also has the grapple ability.  Boba Fett can use his Jett pack to hover short distances and his carbine is twice as powerful as a normal blaster. And here’s a tip: press the B button and your bounty hunters can throw thermal detonators which attach to any shiny metallic object.

The bounty hunter missions play like a game of hide and seek.  Once you enter a level, you have three minutes to find the hidden rebel.  The missions each take place on levels identical to those found in the free play mode. You can’t use any extra cheats you unlocked from the Power bricks, and no studs drop on these levels. It’s a straight-ahead rebel hunt. You earn bonus points for tagging your target quickly, and a gold brick for completing the level.

It’s easy to get lost on these levels – so here’s the quickest way to bag your rebels.

The Mon Calamari military commander Admiral Akbar is hiding in the Hoth command center.  The obvious route is to follow the hallways down towards the Millennium Falcon and to search for him in the side rooms. But the obvious route is not always the correct route. Turn around instead, and go through the protocol droid door.  Use your thermal detonator to blow past the debris and you’ll find Akbar hiding out near the bacta tank.

Jedi Master Yoda is hiding out with the Ewoks on Endor. Run quickly to the bridge on your left. You’ll find a stack of purple crates on the other side. Blow them up and build a rotator. Use this to lift the ledge that Yoda is on and fly across. You’d think it would be more difficult to capture one of the greatest Jedi of all time

Protocol droid C3P0 is hiding out in Cloud City and old goldenrod is a tricky one. Run through the level to the scrap room where the Ugnaughts are holding C3PO.  Build 3P0 and he will fall apart. Hurry along through the protocol door and use the hunter elevator to the left. You’ll emerge on a roof with tropical plants and one very nervous droid.

After all this, I’d say you could qualify for America’s Next Top Bounty Hunter. Just keep an eye out for the might Sarlak.
