Download and organize pics from your digital camera with this feature-filled program.

You want easy? I got easy. Instead of dragging all the photos off your digital camera or card reader and sorting them into various folders, why not let all that happen automatically?

Sound too good to be true? Guess again. Today's free file makes the magic happen.

If you have a digital camera that appears as a removable drive in Windows, you can set cam2pc to detect it automatically, copy or move your photos to a folder of your choice, and open them in an image viewer. The program also supports other types of cameras, but you'll have to check the site's compatibility page for a list.

This feature alone is worth the download, but we're just getting started. There are a bunch of other tricks up cam2pc's sleeve.

  • Batch, rename, resize, and convert photos into various image formats.
  • Learn specifics about each of your photos (format, date, exposure time, flash/no flash, etc.) by viewing the EXIF information.
  • Print one image per page or contact sheet.
  • Set up a slide show with your images. There are more than 80 transitions between photos to choose from.
  • Rotate your wallpaper automatically using your own images. You can set how often it changes.

You'll also find that cam2pc's image-browser interface is as good as any you may currently be using. It's broken up into three sections: a Windows Explorer pane with the directory tree, thumbnails of every picture in a selected folder, and a preview window showing a selected photo.

There's also a shareware version of this program with all kinds of additional features, but it'll cost you 30 bucks. Don't worry, the free version has plenty of good stuff to offer.
