In a bit of news that almost slipped by the barrage of Comic-Con reveals over the weekend, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson revealed via tweet, that the rumors which have him in the running to play DC Comics' badass intergalactic bounty hunter, Lobo are indeed true.
If he does get the part, it would reunite Johnson with his director in the recent 3D effort, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Brad Peyton, who was appointed to helm Lobo's big screen debut back in April.
Could The Rock be ready to drop the People's Elbow on some of the galaxy's nastiest candy-ass jabronis?
According to Johnson:
"Rumors of me possibly playing LOBO are true. Joel Silver and Brad Peyton working on it now. That could be fun.. ?#RockTalk?"
This certainly comes as no surprise, since the announcement of Peyton as director pretty much set the rumor mills in motion for The Rock to don the albino makeup and tackle the role of the violent super-powered space-biker who is the last of his race of Czarnians after having killed them all.
While it was made clear that Johnson has not been confirmed for the role, the likelihood of him landing it is more than a little strong. -- Unless Ryan Reynolds isn't busy. (Because Ryan Reynolds plays everything.)
