Spider-Man's Green Goblin Makeup Test Is Creepy, Awesome

Posted December 19, 2011 - By Eugene Morton

When you saw the first Spider-Man movie, were you bummed out that The Green Goblin looked almost nothing like his comic book counterpart? If so, you're going to be even more depressed after seeing this rejected makeup test for the pumpkin bomb-hurling maniac that looks exactly like what legendary artist Steve Ditko first put to paper back in 1964. Why the people responsible for the film went with an emotionless mask instead of this, we'll never know, but it's still cool to think about how much better the movie would have been with a villain who could actually emote.

Creepy, but awesome. Too bad this didn't make the cut.

Especially with WIllem Dafoe's performance. Combine his insanity with actual facial expressions, and it would have been epic. Instead, we got meh. The Power Ranger's mask was ok, and it keeps with the spirit of the character, but this is much much better.
