Superman Man Of Steel: Close-Ups Of New Outfit

We already knew that Superman: Man of Steel would be breaking live-action history with Henry Cavill being the first version of Supes to go without the signature red undies. Well, it seems that a handful of more clear and up-close pictures have surfaced which will give us armchair directors plenty of material to analyze.

Besides providing a pretty detailed look at the scale-like tactility of the new outfit, there's also (depending on how you roll,) the added benefit of getting to know the new "Super-bulge" which now shines prominently as the Last Son of Krypton goes commando.

Check out the new pics!

I have to say that the costume does look a little better in these pics. Also, what appeared to be a non-functional belt in those far-taken pics from last week now shows itself to be just a non-functional belt buckle. (Which, I guess is not quite as bizarre, but still seems questionable.)

It does reflect the current comic book rendition of Supes' costume well enough. Although, we'll have to wait and see how mainstream audiences react to Superman's banana, sans hammock.

Superman Returns was a great way to pay respect to Christopher Reeves, it was done really well, and now they are going to replace the actor, Brandon Routh did a great gob and looked a lot like Christopher. the new guy does not look like Superman. They are going to mess up Superman like they did batman using a different actor with every movie, this has to stop. Christian Bail sounds like he has a sinus problem when he has the mask on, like it is to tight or something. the new batman movies are cool, but c'mon take some day,(or night-quil) or something.

Well at least it looks like he's throwing a punch which is already an improvment from the last one.

I think they should have Tom Welling play Superman in a movie, as if to continue Smallville.

Man...that outfit reeks. Looks like a poor man's copy of Spider-man's costume. Count me OUT for this movie.

I think the costume looks like a cool revamp version, though the absence of the red underwear is a little jarring. I wish they would have kept them. As for the movie, I'll wait for it to actually come out to make a judgement. I try to do that with every superhero movie. I love that there are all these superhero movies coming out, because I am a huge superhero fan.

Now that is a clean and awesome look for a Superman uniform. It comes off as more of a uniform that has some influence from Krypton's fashion sense rather than a brightly colored "costume".

Why has every Superman Movie since the old 70's one, try to copy the 70's version???

Yeah it worked then, having a no-name, so that people see superman not an actor.

But look at Fantastic Four, Captain America, Iron Man and Batman. What do they have in commmon......Super Huge Actors, who tore it up!!

Did anyone watch Iron Man and say oh thats robery downey in that iron man suit not tony stark, or what is christian bale doing in the batcave??

I really think the person who does the next superman movie, should stick to the original great comics and not the original great movie.

I mean come on, look at Superman 2006, they completely ripped everything from the 70s version, and I talk to other comic nerds, and some don't even know about it!!! Man of Steel, hopefully will do better than that, if they want people outside the superman fan circle!

They really need to move on to another character. For the past I don't know how many years all they've been doing is Batman and Superman. There are other comic characters out there. Lets see some of them hit the big screen. They're going to burn every one out on Superman and Batman. I'm excited for the new Superman, but lets hope it's the last. The costume is great but he needs a belt. I hate the onesie look. I hope Cavill can pull it off.

I have to agree, I can't tell if I'm looking at Spider-man without his mask or Superman. And if we are going to have to sit through ANOTHER take on an origin story...forget it! I am seriously sick of rebooting the same old stuff. By now, if you don't know the origin of any major DC or Marvel Hero, you're probably not going to go see any of the movies anyway. In which case, forget rebooting, just give us some fresh stories.

honestly i think it looks cool but yeah they at least shold of tried nt to make it look like it is and thats a rubber costume and something to cash in on the new look n the comics.

This outfit looks freaking stupid, and the actor doesn't look anything like superman. Screw DC screw this Movie first Hollywood now the comics are screwing up the great characters I grew up loving to read each issue he's SUPERMAN he doesn't need and retarded looking rubber suit. Christopher Reeve's cloth suit was, is, and will always be the best

At least the colors are truer to the "classic" costume unlike Superman Returns. Does the cape have the "S" symbol on the back?

Really? I am sooo sick of DC comics rehashing the SAME stories over and over again. They screwed with Batman's costume 5x....now Superman? I will NOT be watching this crap. Not just because of the costume/uniform but it just adds another nail on the coffin. STOP REMAKING THE SAME STORY!

I'm tired of everyone copying Sam Raime's Spider-Man with the honeycomb textured fabric and shiny rubber accents.

    Thumbs down.

I dig that they are ditching the red undies, but he needs at least a belt to distinguish top and bottom.
