Attack of the Staff: Nik Visger, Associate Producer

Posted May 13, 2011 - By Eugene Morton

Nik VisgerHometown: Santa Clara, CA
Position: Associate Producer
Favorite Season: Spring, (best time of the year sports-wise)
Least Favorite Nickname: “The Nik” (nobody calls me that, but if they did it would surely be my least favorite nickname)

What do you do on AOTS?
I watch a lot of internet videos. I produce Around the Net, Epic Fail, What Happens Next, and Great Moments in De-Ev. Did I mention that I am also one of the prestigious members of the live studio audience? It’s pretty glamorous stuff.

What is your favorite moment from the show?

When James Cameron beat the $&!# out of Drunkle Ted or when James Cameron made a cameo on Jeremy’s Dragon Corner to teach us about proper space dragon sex. Pretty much anytime James Cameron shows up is my favorite moment. I hold the 1,000th Episode close to my heart as well. I had just joined AOTS as a production assistant at the time and it was a perfect introduction to the madness that is Attack of the Show.

Do you have any passions outside of working at G4?

Sports and movies are my two biggest passions, but you should also know that I hate most sports movies. I’m sure most of you stopped reading at “sports,” but in case you’re wondering my favorite teams are the Giants (the baseball one, not the football one), Sharks, 49ers, Warriors, and Trojans (USC). My favorite movies are anything made by David Fincher that aren’t named Panic Room, High Fidelity, Jerry Maguire, The Thing and The Matrix. I feel like I should also mention Forgetting Sara Marshall because that movie is just too good not to.

So, how's it hanging?/ What it is?

It’s hanging in my closet and I’ll never tell anyone what it is.

Did you go to school to do what you do?

Yes. I went to USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. I guess you could say AOTS is part of the “cinematic arts” right?

Who is your favorite artist?

David Fincher. I’ve been a Fincher fan for as long as I can remember. Fight Club more or less defined my teenage years and he’s still one of the best working filmmakers today. It’s fair to say he’s one of the main reasons I wanted to work in the entertainment industry.

Where does it end?

Near the tip.

What upcoming movie are you most looking forward to seeing and what video game are you most looking forward to playing?

X-Men: First Class. I’m a huge Matthew Vaughn fan and I think he’ll get that franchise back on the right path (side note: I think Nic Cage’s sins should be forgiven based solely on his performance in Kick-Ass). L.A. Noire is the game I’m most excited about.

What is your biggest regret in life?

Never getting to see Zeppelin live. But that’s not truly a regret since I never had a say in the matter. I guess it’s more of a wish. You don’t expect me to answer this question genuinely do you?

What's your favorite event that G4 covers?

Comic-Con, without a doubt. Me wantz more footage!!!

Also, if you've ever wanted to know more about Sara Underwood, Alison Haislip, Chris Hardwick, Blair Butler, Chris Gore, Kristin Adams or Blair Herter, check out their Attack of the Staff interviews too!
